To The Editor: This is concerning the "child support sweep" story in the Herald. I know the Herald only prints the information given them, but sometimes there are some circumstances that should be looked into before someone’s name is printed that could be potentially harmful to their reputation. For instance my name was mentioned in the article about child support warrants, Now everyone I deal with on a regular basis thinks I'm a "Deadbeat Dad." The fact is my children moved in with me 21 months ago, and my support case originated in Gloucester County, where 21 months ago, the judge gave me custody and suspended the child support order. Unfortunately Cape May County "misplaced" the order from Gloucester County and kept tabulating arrears, therefore arresting me for a clerical error. I would like a retraction. My children are mortified, and to tell you the truth, I'm very angry with Cape May County right now and considering legal action. Once again, I realize the Herald only prints the information it is given, but here is some detailed information. BILL McFETRIDGE Cape May

I'LL BELIEVE YOUR BULL STORY WHEN YOU SHOW EVIDENCE THAT YOU PAID FOR YOUR RUGRATS FAITHFULLY SINCE YOU WERE ORDERED TO. OTHER THAN THAT YOU ARE JUST TRYING TO MITIGATE YOUR GUILT BY USING A RECENT CHANGE IN STATUS TO MISLEAD READERS. I DON'T BELIEVE YOU NEVER MISSED A PAYMENT PRIOR TO TAKING YOUR KIDS .

My children are now adults and successfully living on their own. I have been, and am now, an upstanding and faithful father. However, the child support system in NJ does not treat fathers equally. I, too, had to deal with the Gloucester County System and found it to be woefully discriminatory and prejudicial against fathers. I understand this father's plight and if the media were ever sincere in trustworthy reporting, it would have verified the "facts' before trusting the government for giving it the truth.

Yeah, legal action. Whatever!!! If a lawyer would take that case you would have already done it. How is it Cape May County's fault. Go back!!!

Holy cow! That is embarrassing!! This is certainly a prime example of the old adage "don't believe everything you read." If what you write is true I think a retraction is certainly in order. Come on Herald, do the right thing--check the veracity of this man's statement and print the facts!
