STONE HARBOR — The Board of Education voted to accept a feasibility study concerning the future of education on the Seven Mile Island during its meeting Sept. 9.
Centennial Associates, LLC, prepared a feasibility study for the Avalon and Stone Harbor boards of education on educational options for consolidation.
Board member Dede Harris opposed accepting the study.
“I don't favor consolidation. I'm a strong believer in neighborhood schools. A neighborhood school gives a community its soul,” she said.
President John Atwood said a meeting including both Stone Harbor and Avalon boards would be held to present findings of the study and gather public input Oct. 7 at 7 p.m.
