UPDATE: Airlifted Driver Identified After Serious Route 50 Crash

PETERSBURG — State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash here that occurred on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at around 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of Route 50 and Dennisville-Petersburg Road.

Tuckahoe Fire Department arrived on scene and requested a medevac to fly for a driver that had lost consciousness. Entrapment was also reported. The Upper Township Rescue Squad and AtlantiCare Paramedics also responded to the scene.

The injured driver was identified as Douglas Clunn, 54, of Somers Point. He was airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center by Medevac 5. His condition is unknown.

According to reports, the driver of the other vehicle was Patrick Murphy, 25, of Ocean City. He was northbound on Dennisville-Petersburg Road just after 2 p.m. when he drove through a red traffic light and hit Clunn's vehicle broadside. Murphy was not injured.
