COURT HOUSE — Middle Township Municipal Court Judge George Neidig in July dismissed the sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child case against Paul J. Schirmer, a fifth grade teacher at Middle Township Elementary School No. 2.
The County Prosecutor charged Schirmer on March 20, 2008, and Superior Court Judge Joseph Visalli set his bail at $50,000. The case was remanded to municipal court, according to County Prosecutor Robert Taylor.
Schirmer had been suspended with pay pending outcome of the case. His name appears on the school’s Web site as a staff member.

NJ1982......Absolutely NOTHING in your post presents logistical or coherent thoughts/responses. Cape May County and the surrounding municipalities/ locales uphold and prosecute the statute laws as any county does throughout the United States. In fact, sex crimes are usually forwarded to the head of the docket when shared w/ simultaneous drug offenses. That being stated, your vulgar and racist posts including s**t & n***er are unacceptable. In addition, the case being discussed here has NOTHING to do w/ race. "Wheres all his racist comments?" What are you referring to? Were you reading a different article? This case discusses the vindication of an accused individual & relative sexual encounter. You even went on to include the President which also had NOTHING to do w/ this article. Maybe you are inebriated or under the influence of some substance...I'm not sure. Please do NOT post on a public forum prior to factual confirmation. You may also consider jottting down your thoughts on scrap paper before you decide to post utter nonsense on a local news site. Constructive criticism NJ1982...don't take it personally......

I live in Cape May & know Paul (in passing, not a friend). While these are serious accusations involving children, I feel satisfactory judgments by the courts have vindicated him. I am by no means undermining the weight of these accusations, however there are cases where disgruntled minors make false reports and/or misinterpret friendly teachers. Public schools are currently a complex place to work at best. Teachers CAN cross the line but the students today are pushing the boundaries as well. Yell 'rape', 'ABUSE', etc. and your life as an adult is gone forever. Some adults may be guilty, but it sounds like this case had insufficient evidence to proceed legally. That makes Paul OK in my book.
