CAPE MAY — Cape May police report the arrest of Jahvin Carlough, 26, of North Cape May for theft following a fraud investigation that began in mid June.

The investigation began when a Cape May resident reported the theft of prescription that was eventually filled at the CVS Pharmacy in West Cape May.

A store video revealed an unidentified male accepting the prescription. Police were unable to identify the suspect and requested assistance from the Cape May County Herald and Crime Stoppers.

The Herald posted a clip from the security video on its Web site and published a photo of the suspect in its print edition. Shortly thereafter, Detective Victor DeMusz received several leads on the identity of the subject being sought.

Police interviewed and charged Carlough with theft (over $200), a fourth degree offense and unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance, also a fourth degree offense.
Carlough was released on a summons and is due to be arraigned in West Cape Municipal Court August 6 at 9 a.m.

His image was captured clearly on the CVS store video system. The suspect entered the CVS Pharmacy June 11 at 2:43 p.m. He paid for the prescription with money from a wallet reported as lost. The value of the drug was $341.
