It's a darn good thing that some of you are not in a bar together. :)

whataboutbob - I fully agree the concerns you are listing are against the law (peeing in the bushes, sex in the bushes etc.) But I think this is the job of your local Police Department. Are you implying they are aren't doing their job? If they are not doing their job, then you need to complain to the local politicians in writing, then if nothing gets done you should attend a Public Council Meeting. And if that dosen't work sign a complaint on the person who is causing the problems!!

You know if this were a article about someone getting ticketed or arrested for public urination or drunkeness I'm sure someone would be complaining about the government and the police just trying to make money off the locals or tourist whoever they maybe... Its a lose lose situation being in local gov or any gov job for that matter someone is always gonna be pissed off about something... As to the fight, bar fights happen get over it. Bad stuff happens in every shore town, and every town for that matter, some maybe more than others but without actual statistics you can argue till your blue in the face and it wont amount to a hill of beans as to which town is worse.

Honeysuckle am I out of line to blame the government here? Is it not unlawful to be drunk and disorderly in public? Is it not unlawful to pee in the street? Is it lawful to have sex in a public place. My point is that the police dept turned a blind eye because they need to tourist to run the town. Our cops need to maintain ORDER!!!!!!!!!!! That's what WE the TAX PAYERS pay them to do!

Following the comments on this related article, it seems to me the taxpayers of Sea Isle City blame the Government for everything. Why don't you step up and run with a positive attitude. A bar fight has to do with 2 individuals disagreeing over something after consuming alcohol. The bar is responsible for serving the individuals not the Government.
Better yet address your concerns at a public meeting on public record and stop hiding. Or move if you are unhappy, in Sea Isle City. Bar fights happen everywhere, people die or get killed everywhere etc. Stop being so petty on your Government, if you didn't have one, right or wrong in your eyes, Sea Isle would definitely be out of control.
And by the way Sea Isle City is no comparision to Wildwood.

Things will never change in Sea Isle so get used to it.

Oh now I see, it happened "outside" the bar! BULL CRAP I smell a cover up for the bar. Like I said earlier local political powers are now coming into play. The police have no comment, not if they want to keep their jobs. It should be mandatory that these type of incidents be reported to the state ABC immediately. These bars should be shut down for serving intoxicated patrons.

As you can see the rest of the posts have it about right! There are a lot of hard working people in SIC. The people involved in this incident were spoiled little rich kids on vacation. The Victim is in bad shape and then we will see these kids crying for their Trust fund Lawyer. I am not a caveman. SIC let the Chief go after he caused numerous hardships, cost tons of money in suits, and then got a pension. It is called "pay to play".
In wildwoods the corruption just keeps on happening. From Catanoso(1960's) to Ernie T.
they have been devoring the city with an influx of "outside money". Look at the shoddy buildings(Herald). They can't even run a Construction office. Half of the buildings never got interim inspections. Some had inspections of the final building Before the foundation inspection. Are you naive or just ignorant?

There are a lot of hard working people in Avalon/Stone Harbor too, but that doesn't negate the fact that the vast majority of those you run into at the bars are indeed spoiled little flaps who'd be nothing without dad's money. If you haven't seen the influx of "not quite wealthy enough for the next island south " type folk into Sea Isle in the last 5 or 6 years you're blind. There are plenty of spoiled little tools all over Sea Isle.

I live here in SIC and I can tell you only a small part of what really happens makes the Herald. The press turns a blind eye all together. I think we should call them when we see or hear something so more of the truth is told. I was shocked how many drunk and disorderly people passed my home on Landis Ave while the cops just drove by. These people were using profanity, urinating in the street and yes having sex behind the bushes. Next year I am going to set up a webcam on my deck so the world can see the cost of tourism on the local people.

That was quite harsh! Rude and ignorant to say the least! You live in a glass house my friend! SIC is not comprised of 'rich kids' (alot of hard working people live in SIC) and the island of WW does not blame people from Phila nor do we call them trash.
My suggestion to you is to get a real life and start living in the 21st century! Where have you been that you sound like you came from the caveman days! Your ignorance does not become you

FYI- and I'm not from Phila either!

The only difference beyween NW & SIC is the spoiled little rich kids In SIC it is also the staff and owners who are spoiled. NW is different. It is the trash from Phila. who runs everything-now.

To the Tuckahoekid Your words, "I've heard of one-this one" you don't get out that often if you believe there was only one fight in the Sea Isle bars this season. The fact that these bars employ at least a half dozen gorilla sized bouncers attest to the fact that they anticipate and do have problems. I go into the Elks or Moose club in NW the VFW on JFK Blvd in SIC and never see any bouncers. Why? I'll tell you, the type of patrons. These young kids want to fight, send them to Iraq. Please bring back the draft it'll make men out of these kids.

To shorelovernww:
As far as the people found dead in Sea Isle City-Only one of those persons has been confirmed as to be at an alcohol serving establishment prior to their death.
Numerous bar fights? I've heard of one-this one. Does you pointing this out suggest that it does not happen in your own town of North Wildwood? I assure you it does, and I myself have witnessed it. I would not be surprised if there are more bar fights in North Wildwood than in Sea Isle City in a given "Summer season".

All of these recent(throughout the past year) investigations in The Wildwoods were due to underage drinking.
Keenans was shut down because ABC agents found underage kids in the bar consuming alcohol on numerous occasions.
Don't try and compare Sea Isle to the Wildwoods.
I assure you that Shenanigans does not have this issue. At the door, one guy will visibly check the ID, and then hands it off to another guy who then scans the ID with a handheld computer which further ensures the person is of age, and that the license is valid.

Just because your local bars were incompetent at checking ID's and ensuring its patrons were 21 years of age or older does not mean Sea Isle has the same problems.
Ocean City has problems of its own-shootings, drugs, fights-and guess what? Its a dry town!

If you think there is a problem in Sea Isle City, I suggest you submit a complaint, as directed in the ABC handbook:
"HOW SHOULD SOMEONE REPORT A VIOLATION OR SUSPECTED VIOLATION OF AN ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE CONTROL LAW, RULE OR REGULATION?
A suspected violation of an Alcoholic Beverage Control Law, rule or regulation should be reported to the local police department or to the Division of A.B.C. Investigative Bureau (telephone number: 866-713-8392)."

Did the bouncers beat up another patron or is this a person caught in the middle? Usually they beat the hell out of someone and then have them arrested. Gonna get caught eventually.

you're absolutely right madashell...

It's a shame already this year 2 people found dead, numerous bar fights, this one made the news only because of the air flight. These bars continue to serve you drinks as long as you can stand! If you don't believe that all you have to do is watch the drunks stagger out of the bars at closing time. Where is the ABC at aren't they in charge of enforcing that part of the law prohibiting bars from serving the intoxicated? But then maybe I am foolish, all liquor establishments come under the control of local governments, look at the owners of most bars in SIC and you probably will find the answer. The local citizens must stand up and demand intervention from the State that's the only solution. Keenan's in North Wildwood learned their lesson after the State send in their agents and closed them down costing them close to $400,000.00 in fines and lost revenue. Local police investigation will get NOWHERE, town-watch should step up and petition their State reps for their enforcement and it should happen NOW.

Sea Isle City is becoming a town where alot of negative activity is happening! Ocean City also! Now you all see how Wildwood feels with the publicity of negativity for the city!
