AVALON – Councilman David Ellenberg and Councilman Joseph Tipping were sworn in for four-year terms during Borough Council’s reorganization meeting July 1.

Ceremonious meeting included an invocation by Monsignor John Frey, swearing in by Mayor Martin Pagliughi and nominations and establishment of Councilman Charles Covington as council president and Councilman Richard Dean as council vice-president for one year terms and a benediction by Reverend Vena Murphy.

Covington noted attendees who included Sen. Covington noted Ellenberg’s achievements for the borough while council president, including better communications through the public access channel and Website, environmental improvements with the establishment of a Green Team and Energy Audit and improvements in the borough’s business district.

“It was a busy year. Thank you very much for navigating us through it,” Covington said.

“It would not have been possible without the teamwork of all,” Ellenberg replied.
