COURT HOUSE — A Millville Memorial High School mathematics teacher was arrested and charged with multiple counts of multiple counts of aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
According to Cape May County Prosecutor Robert Taylor, Michael S. Drebes, 37, of Chew Road, Waterford, was recently arrested as a result of the cooperative investigation that was initiated by detectives from the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s office and Millville Police Department.
According to a release, during the course of that investigation, detectives confirmed that Drebes, a math teacher at Memorial High School, Millville, had allegedly had sexual intercourse with two juvenile females in a hotel room in Cape May during the Memorial Day Weekend.
Drebes traveled with the two juveniles from Cumberland County to Cape May, according to Taylor.
One victim was reportedly 14 years old and the other 16 years old, according to another source.
That investigation also revealed that Drebes also had an on-going sexual relationship with one of the juvenile females that spanned over four months. One of those victims was a current student of Drebes, and the other victim was a former student.
Drebes was charged in Cape May County with two counts each of aggravated sexual assault, a crime of the first degree, and endangering the welfare of a child, a crime of the second degree.
Persons convicted of a crime of the first degree may be punished by 10 to 20 years in state prison, and persons convicted of a crime of the second degree may be punished by five to 10 years in state prison.
Taylor lauded the detectives from his office and those of Cumberland County Prosecutor Ron Casella’s office as well as Millville Police Department for their cooperative efforts, which resulted in the resolution of the case.

This type of stuff has to stop.
We need stiffer and longer penalties.
What happened (what we heard) is awful.
PLEASE contact your state senator with your concern. Don't give up, otherwise it will continue.
Write back if you agree or disagree.

Please this goes on everywhere. If you think it is not going on in your school system you are blind. I personally know of at least 6 teachers in one school and three in another. Yet the only ones that are evil are the ones that get caught. You people are a joke. LOOK a little closer and also look at the so called kids they are having relationships with. Wake up people stop living in GLASS HOUSES

EVERYONE WHO HAD MADE COMMENTS TO HOLD HIGBEE TO A HIGHER STANDARD--- CHECK IN HERE!!!
I'm sorry, but any school teacher who has sex with a student needs to be held to a higher standard. These are people we allow our children to be with almost more than we as parents see them... people we put our trust in to instill the education our children need to succeed in life. ANYONE who does something like this needs to be locked up FOR GOOD!!!! Whats even more outrageous is that this was NOT a one time thing... this was an on going relationship between student and teacher.... MARY KAY LETOURNO STYLE!!! Just looking at the guy gives me the creeps.

I am sorry to see all of the posted comments on other articles and the lack of those for this article. Where to start? A teacher is one of the most important positions for our future and the future of our children. The fact that this menace is allowed to hold this position is scary beyond words. The lasting mental and emotional affects that these girls are subject to is sickening. if these girls dont get the proper psychological assistance to get through this they are destined for an unhappy and unhealthy life. It will affect every future relationship they have with a spouse and their children. Will they be offered this help? What kind of background check is done on our teachers? Is there a protocol of contiunued scrutiny into their teaching habits and relationships with students? Can these situations be thwarted before it comes to this outcome? 10-20 years in prison being treated like he treated these girls is the only thing that will help me sleep tonight. I hope that as I check back on this article I see more OUTRAGE and concern. If I dont it will be more clear to me that the problem is bigger than the few things that I mentioned.

#1. This poor excuse for a man needs to burn in Hades.
#2. Here is intent; this man went out of his way to have sex with minor females. I ask you, where is the outrage on this forum?
