The foundamental cause for this man's suicidal is uncertain.
Not sure if mental health is the indeed reason for his unreasonable behavior.
Maybe he was drugged, medicated or set up by someone who purposely made it look like suicidal.
Hope autopsy examination can clarify the whole assumption.

i was on that boat yesterday with my son and his class and still can't get passed what happened in my mind. it was a very sad and scary experience. i googled the mans name in hopes to learn about him...seeing him board the boat in such a nice dress shirt, i wondered why he was dressed so nice for such a trip. I sat there with my son and his group of friends, waiting for the boat to leave the dock, and i remember he walked past us quickly and unsettled, completely opposite of what we were doing..just sitting/relaxing, waiting for take-off, to hopefully see some whales. i was told he left the boat once and returned again before we set out. I just wish it never happened, i wish my son, and all the other children, didn't have to deal with such an issue whether intentional or accident. I wish I didn't have to explain to my son what suicuide is, and what drives a person to decide to do that, if that is what he did. I wish such a possible issue didn't need to be so close to him, at such a young and delicate age. It was a nice long boat ride out to the rips, and why he decided, if not accidental, to get out of the boat there, i wish i knew. everyone knows not to swim in those waters. a life here, whether you knew it, or not, is gone..but many more are affected by that life with its tragic ending. we were told to look for him..but nothing, just waves and whales.

I think it is a mistake to try and apply logic to understanding the suicidal mind. When a person is suicidal the mind is so unhealthy they are not thinking clearly. They are just trying to end the suffering that they are in. Just because he took his blackberry out of his pocket before jumping certainly does not imply that he was not planning suicide. Some people tidy up every detail of their lives before ending it all. Pray for all the children and his family all the people affected by this tragic event.

The man was the last person to get on the boat and came by himself. He asked how many kids were on the boat. He was acting very odd. He tossed the Blackberry onto the floor just as he flipped himself over the railing. He went over on the right side of the boat when most of the people were on the left and looking toward the left because the captain had just announced there were dolphins to the left. By the grace of God, most of the children did not see this. They found a new ladder still in the plastic wrap in the back seat of his car. Why the bomb sniffing dogs, I don't know. I don't think they even used the dogs, I think they were there as a precaution. There were so many different law enforcement involved. Coast Gaurd, State Police, Marine Police, Lower Twp Police, Cape May Police, Sherrif's Dept. and the K-9 Unit, uniformed officers and detectives. Everyone seemed to show up.

yes mental health is serious but i dont think someone suicidal would take their blackberry out of their pocket and leave it on board if they were planning to die. who buys a ticket for a boat ride to commit suicide in front of children?? the boat stops a couple of times so he probably thought he could climb back onboard. and whats up with checking his car for bombs? just because he is of middle eastern descent???? thats pretty rude!! rip sir

To Lane Boggs:
We, Americans, are proud of being kind, generous and having a big heart to help people who are in need of help.
Scumbags like you can almost ruin our utmost honorable reputation.
So, sit down and shut up.
Better pick up a book to educate yourself before speaking in public.

I know the pain of suicide, I pray for his family and friends. The pain must be so terrible he saw no other solution. Mental health is the key. Please let us help the souls in pain, we must end the stigma around seeking help when we need help, To many families have suffered this pain. It is so sad and tragic for everyone.

what was especially bad other than the obvious is that there was a field trip of many young kids onboard at the time. gotta wonder how that may affect them
