I am a native of this county and I am very concerned about the unsensitive comments that are posted. First I would like to say that I am saddened that the Herald, did not take into consideration that this man has a family and he is from this area. Everything is not news worthy!
Also mental illness is a serious thing, it has nothing to do with Islam. We all need to educate ourselves before we make uncanny statements. My heart goes out to his family and I hope Mr.Ali gets the necessary help that he needs, so that he may live a productive life. To the family God Bless You!

Don't know what is so funny about this story...I can't believe the ignorance of some of you here..you don't even consider the family of this man...I hope that nothing ever happens that will place any of your loved ones in a position such as this, and then this paper has the nerve to post something like this, this is bad press, and for people to get their laugh on about something as serious as this is shameful....religion, drugs, alcohol has nothing to do with this...the stability of one's mind is nothing to take lightly...no body knows from day to day what condition they will wake up too...some of ya are ignorant and stupid...do something positive, say something positive...

The county has to give people year round work. , wow . I have 3 kids working this summer at the shore, all found jobs easily, why not this guy. Work , it does a body and mind good.

If the county made it possible for these locals to have jobs year round you wouldn't have to worry so much about welfare and motels. You are not the only one paying taxes. Hey Darius, nobody but you placed race into the picture. IMHO the guy looks white. I'm not talking about a winter transient, I'm talking about a non- working local living off my tax dollars for free all winter at a welfare hotel.. Look at the police blotters, half of the people arrested live at some flop house hotel

Ok while this article is very funny there are two points in this story that aren't so funny and I believe to be a scary growing issue. "Ali was formerly known as Perry A. Wooten but recently changed his name" translation he recently converted to Islam. Now I don't believe in judging anyone by there religion and I strongly believe in religious freedom but something about angry, crazy AMERICANS converting to Islam just scares me a little.

Herald online is getting better and better. Press of Atlantic City online is getting worse and worse. In fact, the Press ought to just close up shop in Cape May County and stay up in Atlantic County. They act like they're doing us a favor by even covering the news down here. I'd even be willing to pay for the print version of the Herald.
