ERMA — Lower Township Police Officers arrested three (3) persons over the weekend as a result of separate domestic violence incidents.
The first incident was on Friday, April 3 at approximately 6:50 p.m., the Lower Township Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from a frantic female in the 600 Block of East Tampa Avenue in the Villas Section of Lower Township stating, “Get here fast, he’s bleeding.” Investigation on scene determined that the female’s ex-boyfriend whom she has a Final Restraining Order against, identified as Christian Larsen, 39 of the 600 Block of Crawford Road, Erma came to her residence and threatened another male at the residence. During the confrontation with the adult male in the residence Larsen sustained a cut above his left eye which was bleeding profusely. Larsen then fled the area on foot prior to police arrival. Lower Township Police Officers then requested K-9 Officers with search dogs from the Cape May County Sheriffs Department, in an attempt to locate Larsen with negative results. Lower Township Police Officers then issued an arrest warrant for Larsen charging him with Contempt of Court for violation of a Final Restraining Order. At approximately 6 a.m. Saturday morning, Larsen was located by the Wildwood Police Department and subsequently lodged in the Cape May County Jail on the arrest warrant. The incident was investigated by Patrolman Michael Perry.
In the second incident, a father and son were involved in a physical altercation in the 100 Block of West Jacksonville Avenue in the Villas Section of Lower Township. As a result of that investigation, the father, Francis Mulholland, 42, signed a simple assault charge against his son Shawn Mulholland, age 20 years old. The son, Shawn Mulholland then requested a Temporary Restraining Order be issued against his father. Francis Mulholland was then served with a no contact temporary restraining order, while Shawn MuIholland was released on a summons for a charge of Simple Assault against his father. That incident was investigated by Patrolman Brian McEwing.
In the third Domestic Violence Incident, on Sunday, April 5111, at approximately 8 p.m. the Lower Township Police Department received a phone call from a female in the 500 Block of Shunpike Road in the Erma Section of Lower Township, stating that her ex-husband came to her residence and threatened to stab or shoot her during an argument. The female then requested a restraining order be issued. Lower Township Police Officers received permission to issue an order against the actor identified as James M. Carr, 49, of the 500 Block of Shunpike Road, Erma. Carr was also charged with terroristic threats. He was arrested by Patrolman Michael Perry and subsequently lodged in the county jail on $15,000 cash bail.

Your last post was exactly my point in regards to reducing crime. In regards to the bad publicity, we as citizens must realize that the officers involved in the bad publicity made bad decisions on their own. The fact that these incidents are made public just allows us to see how our officials respond to it. Of course biased reporting does not help some of these situations in the court of public opinion. The Lower Township Police department has many fine human beings working there that are citizens of this town and are dedicated to preserving peace and integrity. I would hope that our entire community support these fine peolple instead of focusing on the negative.

Yes this is very true nobody wants a cop to get hurt at all. One reason in other counrties that their crime is so low is they have harsher punishments for their crimnals. Its so bad that nobody wants to commit a crime. Its a shame down here what this crimanls get as opppose to punishment but since corzine took over the laws changed dramically its crazy. something serious needs to be done down her. and another reason I think that they are trying to reduce lowers police force is that they havent had alot of good publicities recently

I trully believe that you do know what you are talking about, I respect that and your opinion. The current way that our system works though is that Police officers are reactive today not Proactive because of the workload. This includes responding to the same calls over and over again and the enormous burden of paperwork also. So this tells me that our system isn't working correctly and needs to change. As for overcrowding in the prisons, just look at other countries who have a strong criminal justice system... a lower percentage of repeat offenders. For us, a strong system would send a message, it may be displacement of the crime from our community but isn't that what we want... less crime here! Might make us all sleep a little better knowing our officers and citizens are just a little safer.

Yes but you see if our police officers catch them all then they wouldnt have anyone to catch lol, its like fishing, I call it "catch and release". the crimnals being the fish released to do more crimes duh! if you fish a lake dry then you have nothing to catch, you get the point Im trying to make! Cops depend on crimnals to mess up which must of them do so they can charge them again.Statically they probailties of someone that was catch doing a crime will likely do the same thing again they say its a 70% chance! They are just going off statics.you cant treat every person or every situation the same thats the problem down here. Crimnals have a hard time adapting into a normal life if all that they know how to be is bad and some crimnal are just really that stupid thats all. and all of the prisons around here are packed to the brime so where so you suggest they put all theses so called crimnals in cape may county? do you know that it cost about 500 a week to hold a crimnal in a jail? and right now there is about 3,000+ in south jerseys jails right now? who do you think pays for this. We the tax payers. And for our lovley inmats to have shelter 3 meals a day, color tv with premium channels all access to get an education and free health benefits? as a taxpayr that would piss m off mor then snything. and before peopl start saying I dont know what Im talking about I live with a cop and all my info is factional! straight from the horses mouth.

Maybe our Mayor and his advisory council could finally be the one's to take on the problem of all these repeat offenders who use our tax dollars over and over again. If you look back you would realize that it's the same damn names generation after generation in this town. the same five percent of our population waste our tax dollars. We should hold our criminal justice system responsible for some of this problem. Our police put themselves at risk with the same people day in and day out year after year and yet our system gives these jerks ... "benefit of the doubt", time payments(over and over again), ROR and plea bargaining. Let's just hold them.... RESPOSIBLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS, FOR REAL!!!!!
