COURT HOUSE -- Area firefighters responded to a structure fire here at 805 Route 9 South, adjacent to the Seventh Day Adventist Church, at about 5:10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22.

Court House and Swainton Stations were initially dispatched to the scene. When police units arrived on scene they reported the structure to be fully involved. Rio Grande and Green Creek were then requested to respond to the scene.

According to Fire officials the blaze started on the second floor and it took crews 45 minutes to bring it under control.

No injuries were reported, according to officials.

According to a police report, the occupants, Morris and Tamar Williams, were inside the home eating dinner when they heard popping noises and began to check to see where the noises were coming from. When they checked the second floor, they found it full of smoke and flames.

They attempted to put the fire out themselves, but were unable to and left the home unharmed, police said.

Middle Ambulance Corps was on standby at the scene while firefighters worked to douse the flames.

Fire Departments from the Villas, Erma, and Stone Harbor were called to cover the fire stations of the departments that were dispatched to the scene.

Stone Harbor Rescue Squad was called to cover the Middle Ambulance Corps building.

We take in-house courses and each firefighter can take any of the courses posted on our board at the firehouse. Some of our members don't have enough time to go to any courses that they would want to take. They have something called a JOB. Just because we don't have all the time in the world to go to classes, like you, doesn't mean we don't take classes. J.R. CMCH FD

To the comment about how CMCH takes outside classes.....I havent seen any of them at any classes in the last 4 years. I dont take every class, but at lease 7-10 a year.

Courthouse did get the fire out with out any injuries ( that we know of)but i never see such a conflict about any other fire commented on. So something must be going on.

What does Goshen have to do with this. Why don't you people mind your own business. Goshen is a very "great" fire company and if I had an emergancy, I would want Goshen to be there. As for each of the publics fire district, keep your opinions to them not other districts. ALL firemen do their job, let them do it without petty comments

THIS IS SO SAD THAT A SERVICE THAT WE DO FOR OUR COMMUNITY IS PUT IN THIS KIND OF B.S. ALL YOU SHOULD GROW UP AND DONT FORGET WHAT WE ARE ALL HERE FOR OUR NEIGHBORS AND EACHOTHER CRAIG IS SO RIGHT ALL YOUR NAMES SHOULD BE PRINTED THANKS T.DECECCO MIDDLE # 1

Fri, 02/27/2009 - 8:42am - Posted by: Anonymous

Perhaps The Herald should start forcing the readers to post their names and/or valid email addresses when they post a comment on an article. This would most certainly cut down on the cowardly anonymous comments. Just a thought. Craig Mericle

Your officer's need to make you guys shut up. This is stupid and very degrading of all fire fighters. As a Fire fighter from out of state I am pleading with you all to knock it off and show some pride.

CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thu, 02/26/2009 - 6:59pm - Posted by: Anonymous

To the 3:27 poster, is it wrong to defend the respect of the organization in which we belong and helped build...I don't think so!

Thu, 02/26/2009 - 3:27pm - Posted by: Anonymous

i'm curious to as how long the banter will continue between the Goshen Firefighter and the CMCH Firefigher. We could probably turn this into a reality TV show or at least a Jerry Springer spin off. Between the typo's and spelling errors it is tough to follow the conversation however it can be surmised that you both live for this site and it's anonymity. I think you should both show up at the Rio Grande Fire House, neutral location, and go at it. The sad thing about this entire posting is the anomisity and venom being regurgitated time and time again. Are you really the faces of your respective organizations? Are you part of the organization that just asked us, the taxpayer, for over $5 million dollars? I know several of the CMCH firefighters and find them to be upstanding and dedicated professionals. They are coaches, business owners and involved community members. I think it may be time for a regionalization of our fire fighting organizations. This is beyond obsurd.

To the 10:36 poster, I'm sure you did stop by you *** It's hard to believe that a fellow firefighter is trying this hard to discredit us. The hand-line did not have 200psi going thru it. I know because I was handling one of the lines. Where do you get your info from anyway. Do you just make *** up. Again, we meet every third Monday of the month at 8:00pm and we drill every fourth at 7:00pm. Stop by on one of these nights and tell us to our face. Bet it's much easier to talk to your keyboard isn't it. I never said we were the best, again, I didn't know it was a competition. All firefighters in this county dedicate themselves in their own ways. Who the hell are you to judge if it's good enough. How about you dedicate over 1,000 hrs. a year to a volunteer cause?

Court House Fire Company Is a Mess 200psi on a hand line looks like you need some pump training.. I Never See any member at any Schooling But Your The best Yeah Right.. And what up with the evac horns and guys are running out and in.. And I stoped by The Fire House And I didnt see anyone

Wed, 02/25/2009 - 3:05pm - Posted by: dtprager

To anyone writting and commenting on the operations of the COURT HOUSE fire company stop wasting your time. Unless you are a part of that company and fight their fires, just shut up. I am personally in the process of getting together my physical and drug screen so I can be part of such an elite and respected company. It has been a dream of mine to be part of this orgainization so unless you to have the dedication and what it takes to be part of this company, just keep sitting at home in your cozy homes knowing that you didn't do Sh** to say anyone home or life. As far as the old numbering system goes, if you ask for a tanker you get a tanker. If you want our ladder, you get our ladder. What does it matter what number it is? You ask for it, you get it. We have intellegent people in our fire company, unlike you people sitting here complaining about us. And for Mr. Anzelone, he cleared it with the chief to be there, so why don't you people know what you're talking about before you make these stupid comments. I really love you Monday morning quarterbacks. Always the critic, never the volunteer. With the exception of the member from Goshen posting on here. And yes, I know who you are. We all do at CH. Get over your grudge and yourself. I will not say we are the best in the county because all fire companies are equal and do an outstanding job. However, we are highly dedicated, have a great brotherhood, TRAIN AT EVERY DRILL, CALL, AND ALOT OF MEMBERS TAKE OUTSIDE COURSES. Yes, calls. Every call has something to teach, and all of us learn. If you are so concerned about not being called to go sit at someones firehouse then take it up with your chief so he can dicsuss it with our chief. Heavens forbid you don't get to go flying 100 MPH to play with your lights and sirens in the big red truck. Have fun listening to your scanner while we are trying to help people in our community with an alarm, put out a fire, use the JAWS of Life, or any other reason they call a group of 50 highly trained and expierenced men and women. And do yourself a small favor...G E T A L I F E

We are not complaining about Mr. Anzelone we appreciate the fact that he volunteers but he still should be in protective gear not in street clothes. Lord forbid something should happen to him he would not be covered by insurance. If Mr. Anzelone does not care about himself or his family how can the firefighters that he is supposed to lead as a Lt trust him?

I wish all the crying would stop. Court house did a fine job and calling for help from there southern town companies was good. Everyone thinks they can be a chief or officer put yourself in our shoes. We make the best decisions we deem necessary if you dont like it then too bad. Whether its lower middle or dennis I like many others in the service are proud and willing to help. If you call us we will do our best if you dont there is no reason to bitch. As for you Mr. Goshen you need to shut your yap, if it wasnt for lets see cmch dennisville green creek rio grande and the villas you wouldnt have made such a stop on the last fire. Any time we have called for goshen they bring a truck full of juniors and dont have the fittings to draft, so before your so quick to judge to judge think of your own companys downfalls. We are all supposed to have each others back not bitch and complain. I am as an officer more then happy to call for help from any one in the county because I am more then confident that they will give 100% when asked or demanded. So once again I ask that the complaining stop and if your in our buisiness and just like to bitch then I personally think you are in the wrong buisiness whether volunteer or paid. It is people like you we do not need in the fire service!!!!!!!!!!

To the coward spouter hiding behind his computer monitor, complaing about CMCH, why don't you stop by the station and show us the "correct" way of doing things? CMCH is a dedicated organization whose purpose is to serve the community in which we live. This mission is accomished in a professional manner 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We do answer countless alarms never really knowing if the alarm is false or unfounded. Regardless of time of night we are always there.

Tue, 02/24/2009 - 8:19pm - Posted by: Anonymous

seriously all these people on here this fire company and that fire company this person that person you know what grow up! It doesnt matter what fire company did what or what person did what at least the fire was out and everybody went home safe. people need to grow up because it could be your house and you wont care who is there and what they did as long as they put it out. so instead of sitting making comments grow at least we have people who are out to save lives and not sit on their a**es and bitch on a computer.

Tue, 02/24/2009 - 8:05pm - Posted by: Anonymous

To the individual complaining about Mr. Anzelone...is this the same Mr. Anzelone who volunteers for the CMCH Fire Company? Who volunteers for the planning board? Who volunteers for the School Board? And you find time to complain about him being called to a fire to help out? So glad we have the armchair quarterbacks like you to offer pointless opinions. Thank you Tony for all you do for our community!

To the 3:48AM, 10:16AM, and 10:23AM poster, you really need to get a life. First of all, it's obvious that you are all the same person. You are also a firefighter due to your knowledge of the gear, the evac. horn, and your knowing of Al Beers. I am a firefighter of Ct. House and I will have you know that we did everything in our power to stop this fire as fast as possible. I was never told that it was a competition of who can have faster stops! They never taught this in the hundreds of hours that I have dedicated to fire school. How about you stop hiding behind your scanner and these posts and show yourself. We have meetings every third Monday and we drill every fourth Monday of the month. Stop on by and tell us your discust to our faces. Make sure to bring your cool scanner though. Wouldn't want you to miss anything going on. Maybe you can also pick-up an application to join. Maybe then you can show everyone your B***S. Whether we get 400 calls or 1 call a year, it really doesn't matter does it. They are all potentially dangerous you idiot! To anyone else that has a problem with Ct. House fire, I'm sure your opinion would change if you needed our help wouldn't it?

Tue, 02/24/2009 - 4:54pm - Posted by: bknoll

Court House is the only fire company in the county with the odd numbering system for their trucks. Every other fire company has to follow a code in which certain apparatus is listed under certain sets of numbers. As a firefighter of another company, it's very confusing when hearing Court House respond for mutual aid to your town, because you never know what type of truck you're getting. Someone should step in and have them change it.

Tue, 02/24/2009 - 4:02pm - Posted by: Anonymous

I think all the volunteer fire fighters do a great job. I'm thankful that they want to volunteer to fight fires. I don't care what town they are from as long as someone comes. Thanks to all of you no matter where you are from, volunteer or paid. RIP Newt Simpkins you will be missed.

Tue, 02/24/2009 - 12:00pm - Posted by: Anonymous

Let's not forget the last in the county to still use 10 codes and old numbering system!!!!!

Tue, 02/24/2009 - 10:23am - Posted by: Anonymous

Lt running w/ his choke out & no gear. I heard in the video the evac horn and still people were going into the structure. FM Al Beers on scene in 1/2 of PPE, please Al practice what you preach. Thank God no FF's or civilians were hurt. Is ther a fund/ donations being set to help the family?

Tue, 02/24/2009 - 10:16am - Posted by: Anonymous

Goshen *** and so does court house you both need to get you act stright

Tue, 02/24/2009 - 9:51am - Posted by: bknoll

There was no need to call Goshen when the entire township was at the fire scene. In essence, Goshen was basically protecting Green Creek and Rio Grande as they assisted Court House in the fire. Goshen, with only 3 trucks, wouldn't be much help anyway. Maybe Court House should just absorb them and make them a sub-station as they did with Station 71.

And to say that Court House provides the best work in the county is absurd. One company ccertianly can't do all the work - the area recieves such great fire protection due to the area companies and their ability to work well together. Bravo to Court Hosue for calling for assistance right away.

Tue, 02/24/2009 - 3:52am - Posted by: Anonymous

Sorry to say but court house is so far in the dark ages im suprised they arent bringing horse-drawn chelseas with rubber coats, metal lids, and pull up boots to a fire.

Tue, 02/24/2009 - 3:48am - Posted by: Anonymous

yeah work does speak louder than words everyone heard your circus on the scanner, over a descent fire. Goshens was twice the size and they dont have any hydrents and had a faster stop. And as far as court house being the best none of you train or take any courses. ok you run three to four hundred calls a year and 90% being alarms at cape regional or the loyalton your not the best. and as far as your lieutenant coming without ppe goes against everything your taught from day one. maybe there should be some serious studying of osha and nfpa rules and regs before you type something on the computer for all to see. thank god he wasnt hurt or killed because insurance would not cover him, if not following regs set for you to follow

HEY TALK ABOUT DEDICATED LT ANZELONE SHOWED UP ON THE SCENE WITHOUT HIS GEAR BUT STILL WAS ABLE TO LEND A HELPING HAND IF YOU ASK ME IF MY HOUSE WAS ON FIRE ID RATHER IT BE IN MIDDLE BRAVO TO THE EFFORTS OF MR ANZELONE AND THE CREW

Mon, 02/23/2009 - 7:50pm - Posted by: Anonymous

Way to go Court House. Still the number one fire fighting company in the county. The rest are all jealous. Keep up the good work. Yes, work does speak louder than WORDS.

Mon, 02/23/2009 - 7:46pm - Posted by: Anonymous

The saddest part of all of this is one of Middle's firemen stayed home because he wasn't feeling well. While his fellow firemen were fighting the fire, he passed away. There will be a service for him Wednesday morning.

Mon, 02/23/2009 - 3:55pm - Posted by: Anonymous

Is the 2/22 @10:43pm talking about Goshen or West Cape May. Sounds like alot of the same stuff we hear about around here. Some day it will all come to a head, I hope when it does happen everyone goes home. For the West Cape Mays' and Goshens' that is a program taught to firefighters pertaining to safety and survival & mayday procedures.

Mon, 02/23/2009 - 3:50pm - Posted by: Anonymous

You all need to read what you wrote. These comments are all so childess. Someone just lost there home and you must get your digs in to each other. You guys are still at war with each other over stupid stuff. Some things will never change.

Mon, 02/23/2009 - 2:20pm - Posted by: Anonymous

never try and put the fire out yourself, fire spreads to quickly and you waste precious minutes. call 911 as soon as you smell the smoke, or see it and get out fast !!!

Mon, 02/23/2009 - 1:19pm - Posted by: Anonymous

I think the firemen did a great job, no one got hurt. We are so lucky to have them!

Mon, 02/23/2009 - 12:25pm - Posted by: Anonymous

Hey 8:16, I was just saying the same thing. There have been several fires in the area lately and I think the last three have started on the second floor. Kind of odd!

Mon, 02/23/2009 - 9:48am - Posted by: Anonymous

To 10:43pm, It sounds like you have a personal axe to grind. I too have seen Goshen in action & they looked like they knew what they were doing. Instead of bitching like this, you should go there & join. Then maybe you could change the way they do things so you can feel that they are as good as court house. But I doubt it, you would rather sit her & put down people who put thier lives on the line for free because thay actually care about thier community. At least they are out there doing what has to be done while you sit on your but & run your mouth.

Mon, 02/23/2009 - 9:38am - Posted by: Anonymous

To the 8:32pm post..."Get a LIfe." Do you really sit around your house listening to the scanner? Rio Grande, Green Creek, and Stone Harbor are neighboring fire companies. It makes more sense to have Goshen sty put due to the distance of Dennisville from the Goshen fire station. If Dennisville has to cover Goshen, then this greatly reduces the resources available to the Dennisville/Woodbine area if there was another call. They don't have fire hydrants up there like we do here, thus, more trucks are needed if something were to occur in the D-ville area. Are you getting me, or, maybe I should speak this through the scanner...,god knows your prob. sitting around right now listening!

Mon, 02/23/2009 - 9:31am - Posted by: Anonymous

Here we go again. People with absolutely no training or the ability to volunteer seem the need to voice there messed up comments about our brave men and woman that give all they have. If you don't like what you see maybe you should get your fat backside off the couch away from the chips and remote. Put the energy that it takes to run your jaw muscle into good use. Ok we know you wont do that so just reach over and get the Tv guide and hope there is someone to help you in a time of need ! Saltwaterdevil

oh no another fire. well done fighters. and for goshen. stone harbor is closer.to court house.dont worrie your turn will come. its winter now. times are hard. nexted will be half of the board walk. ha ha . every year.we have a fire bug on the lose. okay jackie were are you., oh sorry its not green creek or delhaven. anyway great job fire men.no one was hurt on this one. amen

Mon, 02/23/2009 - 3:36am - Posted by: Anonymous

I'm not exactly the conspiracy theory type but, there have been a lot of fires around lately. With everything that has gone on in Coatsville PA ... i have to admit I'm nervous that it could happen here too.

Sun, 02/22/2009 - 11:39pm - Posted by: Anonymous

fully involved on the initial report?????? then why were there attack teams entering the structure???? And why were they asking for apparatus that was already there??? Who knows i dont

Sun, 02/22/2009 - 10:43pm - Posted by: Anonymous

I live in the Goshen Fire district. Please stay in your station if my house ever goes up. You are more of a danger on the road and at fires than if you stayed put while Court House takes care of it. I've seen you in action. With the exception of Frenchie, I'll take my chances waiting for someone else. Thank You!

Sun, 02/22/2009 - 9:28pm - Posted by: Anonymous

I heard the Police say it was fully involved and then the dispatcher told the responding trucks. Is it really a big deal who reported the fire?

Sun, 02/22/2009 - 8:53pm - Posted by: Anonymous

Fully Involved?????? Not my size up!!

Sun, 02/22/2009 - 8:32pm - Posted by: Anonymous

It is nice to see how fire companies from other townships come to help out when needed. But wouldn't it be just as great to also call in your neighboring fire company in the township to help out before you call for help from others? If you listened to the scanner like I did, you heard every one but Goshen get called, and then Stone Harbor sent a truck to the fire and one to cover Court House. I heard Avalon get called to cover Stone Harbor because they were now all over in Middle Twp. Then they get a chimney fire & I guess Stone Harbor thinks Avalon can't handle it, because they pulled the truck that was covering Court House & sent it to the chimney fire, and still Goshen was never called. I read the comments after the fire in Goshen about how good of a job they did & how well everyone worked together, too bad not all the fire companies work like this. It is a shame to see them treated like the ugly stepchild in this township.

Sun, 02/22/2009 - 8:16pm - Posted by: Anonymous

Is it just me or is there an abnormal number of fires occurring in Middle and Lower Twps?
