COURT HOUSE — Middle Township police are asking residents to be vigilant about locking their vehicles and homes.

According to a release, police have been handling more than the normal influx of car and home burglaries over the course of the past few months.

The majority of vehicles have been left unlocked leaving such items as GPS devices, satellite radios and cash visible to the criminals, police said.

Calls were handled in the following areas: Court House, 10 calls; Burleigh, 8; Del Haven, 7; Rio Grande, 2; Goshen, 2; Green Creek, 1; and Swainton, 1. Police ask anyone witnessing suspicious behavior in their neighborhood to call (609) 465-8700.

What can you expect police to do, if people don't take MINIMAL precautions like locking a car or house door and not leaving visible valuables in your car?

This is common sense and not blaming the victim.

Middle Police have released many such precautions over the years I have lived here. I'm glad they do; it reminds people to remain vigilant.

It's been that way for years now in Middle. They are just releasing it to the public all of a sudden because the Twp is not hiring Police Officers now. Hope you feel safe!

If you're in the habit of leaving several hundred, if not thousand dollars of electronic gadgetry laying about the inside of your vehicle and don't lock it...it shouldn't be a huge shock when its gone. You'd be surprised how many thefts like this are simply opportunity crimes by some loser walking by and noticing a lock button on a door in the up position.
