this is an unbelievable act, we are coast guardsmen, guardians on land and sea, this is something that puts shame on all of us, we are men, not trained to kill but to save the lives of those that are in need, how dare you to do such a thing where the hell is your HONOR, RESPECT, or your damned DEVOTION TO DUTY. you are no guardian, your a monster, a man whom used his power of authority to do harm, that isn't a coastie that i want watching my back out here in the fleet. you should be taken out and shot, like a rabid animal, dont ever call yourself a coastie again because i know when i say this im not alone, an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth, hurt one of ours and we'll kill you. a true guardian never turns his back on a shipmate, never lets them get hurt, and you hurt one of your own, in a very bad and shameful way

There is a problem with the Coast Guard in cape may. I have been in for only eight years and seen a lot. My time in cape may has shaken my beliefs in the CG. There is this incendent, the one with the complany comander, there are a few more that never made the paper and many openly *** members walking around. This is the worst place I have seen for the enlisted members and it is the place we start from our home. I do not tell people what I do when they ask me. I am ashamed. I hope this incedent is delt with quickly and severly.

So if it was a female who was 16 or 17 that would make it ok? If that was the case she would still be under the concentual age of 18. Thinking like that, you might be just as sick as he is.

To the person who posted Thu, 12/18/2008 - 4:25pm, This was an adult with a child, dont you assume before YOU know the facts. The fact that as an adult you would look at a 17 year old and think that they are "hot" is a bit disturbing.
Thu, 12/18/2008 - 5:25pm - Posted by: Anonymous
Please people, don't jump to conclusions before all of the facts are in. Like the age of the victim. If this was truly a child, that is certainly one thing, but, maybe this was something with a 16 or 17 year-old. I'm sure most of you have at least occasionally thought that a 17 year-old was hot. To make all these accusations that he is some kind of depraved pervert before you know the facts is not right.

Way to go Rusty. We honestly do not know what makes us madder... that we befriended you, let you into our home, loved your children dearly or the fact that you were blessed with a wonderful wife, wonderful children, and a great job in the Coast Guard. NONE of those things you deserved! Your actions in this case are unforgivable to every single human on this earth. You should be publicly humulated, castrated, thrown out of the Coast Guard and put on an island somewhere to live with bugs. This way you will no longer hurt anyone who comes in contact with you. May every day of the rest of your life be a nightmare for what you have done!!!
Your family is in our daily prayers. Let the blanket of the Lord hold them together threw this HORRID time.

Way to go Victor Demusz. As for the *** that did this to an innocent kid; He'll get what he deserves.

First off...my thoughts are with the family. II cannot imagine what they are going through! Their lives will never be the same. This is what this board should be about not about what is going on "down there". Two Coast Guard members' actions should not tarnish the hard work and devotion to duty that the rest of us have.

*** you got that impression of him...no one thought he would be the one to do this...and as far as his family helping him out of this situation, that's not going to happen...see this is what i mean...sometimes you should just shut up and just not say anything...it's people like you that make these situations more stressful on the family. There is so much information out there that is just crap...no one knows the real story but the family and some of the close friends, in which I am one.
He did something totally unforgivable and he will be in jail for a long time...lets move on people...this family has been through enough!

Agreed with the last posters comment...Rusty made some bad decisions and if found guilty, will pay the ultimate price...And since other situations have happened down here in the past year at Cape May, doesn't make the Coast Guard or its hard workers here in Cape May "bad" people. Don't generalize everyone by one person's actions.

He’ll probably get off-His Daddy (***) and Uncle *** are both PG County, Md retired Police Officers – They’ll pay someone off to cover this up. Hang this *** out to dry He won’t prefer little girls when they finish with him in the big house - It’s funny I always got the impression he was ***

Ok I personally know this family and I am just as shocked as the rest of you, but I have read the comments and one is kinda bothering me...how dare you question where the mother or son where...you have no idea what the real story is or how this all transpired. Before you start running your mouths get your facts straight. I have come to realize that the person I thought he was, he really wasnt and that's what we should be focusing on...the blame is on him...NOT his family. This is all really difficult for the family and closest friends...and just like when someone dies...please respect their privacy.
Thank you

34 years old and only a third class petty officer (E-4), something isn't right there. If thats true,, where is the coast guard going. I was a (E-7) at 34, and I was a late bloomer....
I was a YN2 at 21 and was up for First Class when I got out at 24. If I had chosen to stay in I would have been a Chief by the time I hit 28....
What do you guys want a cookie?

This is in response to the last comment at 5:31. Just because there have been a couple of bad incidents recently does not make the Coast Guard down here bad. All of us here in the Coast Guard are just as upset as everyone else reading this news. We are normal people, living normal lives. Don't put a label on the rest of us because of choices others in the Coast Guard have made!!

First a Coast Guard Drill Instructor down there sexually assault's another guy who used to be his recruit and now another Coast Guard guy sexually assault's a child. What is wrong with the Coast Guard down there. Is this just more examples of leadership failures byb the current administration.

I was a YN2 at 21 and was up for First Class when I got out at 24. If I had chosen to stay in I would have been a Chief by the time I hit 28. Being a GM3 at 34 only says that this guy should have been gone long ago. The Coast Guard has had to put up with far too many turkeys the past few years. Hopefully, they will start taking a hard look at these troublemakers and begin getting rid of them.

lets take him off shore and drop him off for good. loser *** better get what he deserves

I hope he does too.... assuming he's guilty. Our justice system is flawed, but everyone should have their day in court (military or otherwise) before we talk about hanging high and rotting in jail.

this guy being 34yrs old, makes me wonder just what sort of history he is carrying on his back. This activity probably goes back many yrs. and many situations. castration and a cell block with other cretins would be good!

Wow i knew this guy when i was stationed there, i guess you cannot tell a man's true character or moral till they catch you. The reason he is an E4 at 34 was because of a reduction on a non-related incident.
Wed, 12/17/2008 - 8:18am - Posted by: Anonymous
As a recently retired Coastie, and going on the charges, I am going to say this "person" was an E-4 due to being busted down through mast or other disciplinary hearings; the Coast Guard has no problem reducing people in rank and on multiple or a single nasty charge, will reduce two grades or more in one heearing. Wouldn't surprise me in the least that he was a problem. He still gets his day in court, whether civilian or military and if he is found guilty, I agree....let Leavenworth have him for a VERY long time.

He has been trouble for well over a year in the CG. Should have been out long ago.
I hope you rot in hell your sick sick sick.
No one in your family deserves to be put though this.
Oh did I say your sick? No your more than sick you better enjoy your time in Prison because the big boys are gonna have a hayday with you Rusty!

But whatever the case is, hang him high. Today's military lets the civilian world take care of it and only discharges member after being found guilty, I say send him to a military prison for a long time.
