TOWN BANK — About 4:25 p.m. on Dec. 4, Town Bank, Erma and Villas fire companies responded to a fire at 5 Delair Road in the Cape May Beach section of Lower Township.
Smoke was showing when Town Bank Volunteer Fire Company arrived on scene.
The fire was believed to have started in the kitchen by food cooking on the stove with no one home, according to Town Bank Deputy Fire Chief Lew Megonigal.
Fire was quickly extinguished. There were no injuries.

Accident? Yes. Stupid? Maybe neglegent. I just don't understand why people have to be so mean. Everyone makes a mistake. They didn't intetnionally do it! If they didn't have a smoke detector, well THAT is stupid, but then again that goes for far too many people. Even though the fire departments put the message out there all the time.
Good job by the Township Brothers.

To all the "south jersey" commenters. Keep your comments to yourself. You see we can work together in the township. Ego's are set aside and the job gets done no matter what the truck says on the side. So please, do not compare us to the turf war BS down there!

I can't believe the response was so fast, I thought having too much equipment actually slows the response. I wonder if there were any public safety issues with all the equipment on the road? I can't believe the township fire depts. actually set up such a fine system just to provide the best possible service. What about protecting there own territory and getting there first? What if a villas truck pulled up to a town bank fire first, think of the choas. The chief's are really pushing there luck having all the equipment responding. Great job,

accidents happen. charging a VICTIM of a fire with a crime, when it is accidental is beyond dumb. anyway, good save guys, yet another great example of good cooperation among the fire companies of lower township. if only 'too much, too fast' wasn't a problem on cape island....

NOW IF THERE EVER WAS A CASE WHERE YOU CHARGE FOR FIRE SERVICE THIS IS IT! THEY SHOULD ALSO BE CHARGED CRIMINALLY. BUT THAT WOULD BE IN A PERFECT WORLD.

Another job well done by our Township Fire Co.'s. Way to work together for the common cause.
