COURT HOUSE — A Panther was named to the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band.
Drum Major Christine Norton, of the Middle Township High School Marching Band, was selected as one of the top 97 marching musicians from across the country.
The band is scheduled to perform Jan. 3 in the halftime show at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
The All-American Bowl is recognized as the premier high school football event in the country and the band allows the musicians to showcase their skills for a national audience.
“Christine is a tremendously skilled musician and a role model to many of her fellow band members,” said Col. David Lee, director of strategic communications, marketing and outreach for the U.S. Army Accessions Command.
“We’re proud to be the title partner of a program that, like the Army, provides young Americans like Christine with experience, which strengthen them and help them succeed in life as leaders.”
In accepting this recognition, Norton expressed tearful thanks to her fellow band members, the All-American Band Selection Committee and especially her family without whom none of this would be possible, she said.

Christine's an amazing girl! It was sad to see her give up time with her friends, but it was for her to dedicate her life to what she really loves. I'm proud of her an she deserves every part of it! She's worked all four years of High School for this, i dont think theres anyone out there that could take her place. I love you Christine and Congratulations buddy!

Was there a full school assembly held for this young lady? I hope so. It is really a shame that more people do not support the band program and the achievements of the students involved with this program. A morning announcement really isn't good enough. Get the entire school involved in this celebration! The athletic teams get pep rallies and the something similar should be done to honor the other programs and students.

I think this is great, it's about time we got some good news from Middle. There are lots of great kids there but all we ever hear bout are the ones in gangs, the ones on drugs, the basketball stars who beat up old people and those that rob local stores. As a former Panther I am very proud of this fine young lady!
