Missing Teen Safe, Man Arrested

RIO GRANDE — On Thursday, Nov. 27, at 4:53 p.m., the Middle Township Police Department received a report of a missing 15-year-old juvenile in Rio Grande. Neighbors told police they observed the juvenile accompanied by a white male earlier in the day believed to be homeless.

Middle Township police began an extensive search and investigation to locate the juvenile.

The Rio Grande Fire Department and Cape May County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit were summoned to the scene for assistance.

During the search, police located the white male, John Armstrong, believed to be with the juvenile earlier in the day. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Armstrong, 40, last known address a local motel in Rio Grande, and charged him with endangering the welfare of a child and supplying alcohol to a minor.

Armstrong was lodged county jail in lieu of $7,500 bail, set by Municipal Court Judge Peter Tourison.

On Friday, Nov. 28 in the morning, the 15-year-old juvenile was located and returned to his mother.

The incident remains under investigation by police.

THESE GUY'S ARE NO GOOD, TROUBLE AND SHOULD BE HELD ON A HELL OF ALOT MORE BAIL THAN $ 7500. MIDDLE POLICE PLEASE HELP. I KNOW YOU SEE THESE GUYS I KNOW I DO! THEY HANG ALL DAY LONG IN THE AREA HARRASSING ALL FOR CIGARETTES AND MONEY. THE PEOPLE NEED TO GET INVOLVED. EVERY TIME ONE OF THESE GUYS IS HANGING OUT AT THE BUS SHETER OR CANAL'S OR IN THE PARKING LOTS OF THE SHOPPING CENTERS PANHANDLING, HARSSING AND SCAREING PEOPLE AS THEY LOAD GROCERIES . CALL THE POLICE SO THEY REALIZE HOW BAD THE PROBLEM IS. HAPPY HOILDAYS!
