TUCKAHOE -- An Estell Manor man suffered non-life threatening injuries after he collided with a train here on CR-664 on Saturday, Nov 15 at 12:29 a.m.

According to State Police, Eric R. Schairer Jr. was eastbound on CR-664 in a Dodge Ram pickup truck 100 feet west of Lincoln Road when he failed to recognize a stationary train and the flashing red railroad warning lights.

He struck a rail car. The truck sustained extensive front end and passenger side damage.

Further investigation determined that the train was not moving at the time of the accident due to the fact it was in the process of transferring empty cargo cars from one engine to another.

The rail car sustained minor damage as a result of the impact, according to State Police.

Schairer was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City by Upper Township Rescue Squad and Medic 8 with multiple non-life threatening injuries.

The Tuckahoe Fire Department responded to the scene.

The accident is being investigated by State Police Trooper Scott Tetzlaff of Woodbine Station.

Did the drive not happen to see the signal because he was drunk? And how about the fact, that the truck, was not even his. I cant wait to read what charges that this recless KID, and bar he was drinking at, will get!

Now I wonder, does he have to pay for repair costs for the train as well? I mean, you can try to say that the train is at fault if there's no signals at the road, but the train wasn't even moving! Pure Darwinism at it's best.
