Midnight Robbery Attempted at Wildwood Domino's Pizzeria

On Saturday, October 25, at approximately 12:01 a.m., members of the Wildwood Police Department Uniform and Detective Divisions responded to Dominos Pizzeria, 3800 New Jersey Avenue, Wildwood, in connection to a report of an armed robbery in progress.

Upon arrival, officers secured field interviews of the victims and witnesses and ascertained physical and clothing descriptions of two individuals responsible for the robbery.

Accordingly, the information pertaining to the suspects was broadcasted to Wildwood Police department officers, who were actively setting up a secured perimeter in the immediate vicinity of the incident location.

As a result of the ensuing physical search of the area, an individual matching the description previously provided by the victims and witnesses, was observed concealed in a rear yard, located approximately one city block from the pizzeria.

Immediately following a brief foot pursuit, the individual was apprehended by uniform officers and transported to Wildwood Police Department headquarters, in connection to the investigation.

Once back at police headquarters, the individual was identified as Dimitris Smith, a 19 year-old unemployed black male from Charlotte, North Carolina.

Subsequent to the positive identification of Smith, he was charged with the following criminal charges; robbery, aggravated assault (2-counts), possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, certain person in possession of a weapon, obstruction of justice, and resisting arrest.

The honorable David Deweese authorized bail at $100,000.00 cash/bond no 10% all charges.

Smith was incarcerated at the Cape May County Correctional Facility in lieu of posting the required bail.

This investigation currently maintains an active status as a second individual who actively participated in the robbery is still at large. This individual is described as a black male, 16 to 18 years of age, approximately 5’5”tall and 150 lbs., with shoulder length hair, worn in dread lock style, fashioned in a ponytail.

Hay 3:29 learn to spell first , and the reason I ask is because I'm only a summer resident, unlike most of you locals who have some relatives in the pokey I have no need to know where the jail is located

There is a theme to this story and to the others involving theft, burglary, drugs, and vagrancy. They are all unemployed! Maybe the county and city governments need to hire people so they can fix OUR roads like New Jersey Ave. These punks need something to do other than stealing from people who are already struggling!!!

Can someone tell me where the cape May county prison is located

The Jail is located at 125 Crest Haven Rd, Cape May Court House, right off the parkway at the 3rd light.
