The public is invited to “Poets of the Great War,” a presentation given by Robert F. Holden at 6 p.m. on Nov. 10 at the Main Branch of the Cape May County Library, 30 Mechanic St., Cape May Court House.

The lecture explores the horrors of World War I and looks at the horrific events through the poetry of English and American poets.
Footage of clips taken during World War I are shown demonstrating the ferocity and assortment of weapons used in that era.

Also featured are excerpts from movies and a British documentary series in which the war played a major role.

Additionally, an assortment of antique history books about “the Great War,” and several artifacts from World War I will be displayed.

Robert Holden is a Senior Adjunct Professor of History at the Atlantic Cape Community College, Cape May County campus. He co-authored “The Nanking Massacre and Other Japanese Atrocities Committed During the Asia Pacific War.”

On Nov. 8, the library presents Sandy Riley of Amish Traditions as she gives a talk about the “Amish Way of Life,” at 1 p.m.

Riley brings the life in an Amish community alive with funny stories, personal accounts, and interesting facts about the natives living in rural Lancaster County.

She will explore traditions and some unknown facts about the Amish community.
