VILLAS — Lower Township Police Oct. 8 at approximately 11:30 p.m. reported the seizure of a large amount of heroin, cocaine and marijuana in the area of Bayshore Road and Village Drive here.

Detectives followed up on a citizen tip that the subject would be in that area selling heroin.

The subject, later identified as Richard Johnson, 27, of the 100 block of Shadeland Avenue, arrived a short time later at a local realty business complex, which was closed at the time.

Detective Chris Lambert, posing as a buyer, made contact with Johnson and another unknown male. Police then moved in after one subject fled the area discarding drugs in yards on Village Drive as he ran. Police arrested Johnson at the scene without further incident,

A consent to search was obtained from Johnson and a search of his residence lead to the seizure of an additional eight bags of suspected heroin and one bag of suspected marijuana.

Johnson was charged with distribution of heroin, possession with intent to distribute heroin, and possession of the marijuana and cocaine.

Johnson was transported to county jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail set by Judge David DeWeese.

Additional charges are pending for the other subject upon his arrest for possession of cocaine and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

Lambert and Detective First Class Mel Hedum investigated this case.

A total of 16 bags of crack cocaine, 12 bags of heroin, one bottle of prescription drugs and one bag of marijuana were seized during this undercover operation.

I think the LTPD does a great job of being Pro-Active considering under the Starner/Beck Admin they went from 54 to 45 cops.

over the course of the summer the LTPD arrested 63 people for DWI, 409 Adult Arrest,63 JV Arrest, Made 3,860 Motor Vehicle Stops, and 5,141 Properety Checks.

While Responding to 221 Domestic's, 257 Motor Vehicle Accidents, 71 Burblaries, 90 Simpli Assaults ,220 thefts. and 737 Emergency Medical Calls.

Oh and while they were protecting you ( 8:20PM ) 7 Lower TWP Police Officer's were Assaulted . Your right however when the LTPD had 54 officers they could be a heck of alot more ("PROACTIVE!)

I see on spoutoff that Founding Fathers fixed up Mulligan field nets. So now the little angels can destroy them again. Has the LTPD EVER tried patrolling as a proactive way to stop crime or do they just wait for a call and send multiple units to respond. Maybe FF can fix this problem with the LTPD.

As a resident of Lower Twp. I can see how active our police department is in the fight against drug's, I can see how many drug dealers are arrested in Lower Twp. trying to sell to our friends and family. I know drugs are the cause of so many other crimes and I personally want to say thanks to the Chief and our officers, and please keep going!!! I look forward to reading every time a scum bag is arrested.

Was this guy on drugs himself? Did he seriously not recognize Chris Lambert as a cop? He has it written across his head and he has also been in the paper a million times. Drugs do mess up your mind!!!!

Oh, is this guy arrested from Afghanistan?

Tue, 10/14/2008 - 10:08am

i wonder if anyone knows that Afghanistan, under US control is producing 80% of the worlds heroin... possibly to get its citizens horribly addicted in order to make money off of bails and charges. i don't know though.... this comment will probably just be followed up by closed minded people who can't do research.
