As an extension of its Monarch Butterfly School Program Project taking place this fall at the Nature Center of Cape May, the environmental education facility will offer a teachers’ workshop entitled “Schoolyard Habitats,” on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Backyard school habitats can get students outside and excited about learning. By turning a schoolyard into an outdoor classroom, no matter how big or small, you can have a living lab where students enjoy learning.
The workshop will include a visit to a nearby schoolyard habitat. Bring lunch and photos or layout of your schoolyard. Participants will receive five hours of NJDOE credits.
The workshop is limited to 30 participants; pre-registration is recommended. The workshop fee is $30, reduced to $20 for New Jersey Audubon Society members.
