VILLAS- On October 9, at approximately 4:00 a.m. the police department received a call of a white male harassing the employees at the Villas Wawa.

As the police were responding to the Wawa, the white male left the area in a blue Honda Civic.

While the officers were checking the area of the Wawa for the Honda Civic, Middle Township Police advised that they had just had a fight in their area and a blue Honda Civic was involved and had left the scene.

Police then received a report of an erratic driver operating a blue Honda Civic in the area of Locus Avenue in the Villas.

Patrolman Robert Fessler located and stopped the Honda in the area of Texas Avenue in the Villas section of Lower Township.

Once the car was stopped Officer Fessler discovered a 17 year-old male from the Villas driving the car. The driver and sections of the interior of the car were covered in blood.

Both of the drivers' hands had injuries that were consistent with being in a fight. Officer Fessler noticed an odor of alcohol on the driver.

During the course of the car stop the driver became extremely violent and belligerent. He began screaming obscenities, and was discovered to be in possession a substance believe to be marijuana.

The driver did not cooperate with the arrest and had to be physically restrained and placed in the back of a police car were he then kicked out the back window the police cruiser.

Upon arrival at police headquarters his violent behavior continued as he spit on an officer while being processed.

The driver was charged with driving without a license, Driving Under the Influence, possession of marijuana, criminal mischief to a police vehicle, and assault on a police officer.

He was processed and released to the care of relative.

The incident was investigated by Officer Robert Fessler, Officer Chad Fitzmaurice and Officer Jennifer Anzelone.

Not everyone in the Ghetto-by-Bay is a criminal, just about a third.
You're probably right, the kid is a good kid. Have him move in with you when he gets out of the joint.
Lets just build a wall around the town, call it "Jail", no need to police it any more and call it a day already.

For your information, this kid lives in another state and is normally a good kid. He made a misake that night, grnated it was a big mistake, but a mistake none the less. You people should do a little research before posting comments. As for renaming the Villas, I bet you don't live in the VIllas. Not everyone here is a criminal.

Good Kid????

Do all of these "good kids" get drunk, speed, drive around covered in blood, acting violent with pot in car, spitting at cops & breaking the windows at 4am mid-week?

The article said he's 17, that makes him a Villas Freshmen or Sophomore in Lower Cape Regional. Staying up that late would mean less than 3 hrs of sleep before he had to meet his Parole Officer (if they work Yom Kipper).

At first glance, and admittedly even second glance, Villas does have many problems. But instead of pointing your finger and sending us all to be damned to Hell, perhaps the adults of our community and our Township should ban together for a solution. Instead of pre-judging all teenagers and labeling them 'harbor rats' go to our schools and see first hand all the GOOD kids and the all the GOOD things they do.

Great job LTPD!! However, as a resident of Villas and mother of two teenagers, I find it extremely offensive that people who read this article seem to think all teenagers who reside in Villas are of this young man's character (or lack thereof). There are many parents and relatives in this town who do not allow our kids to roam the streets and who keep careful watch over their friends and their activities. There are a lot of good VILLAS kids who do not get in trouble, unfortunately that doesn't make for a very interesting front page news story. To catagorize all Villas teenagers as "harbor rats" is very narrow minded.

At the risk of getting attacked here, I kknow this young man, and he happenes to be a very nice kid. Yes his family may not be perfect but they do love and care about him very much. The power of alcohol has made many a good man a fool.

***-By-The-Sea is alive and well.

This election day we should vote on renaming Villas, I would choose "Jail" . All of these Harbor Rats can get use to saying it's where they live.

Good Job LTPD!!! Keep our community safe!!

It's a sad state of affairs, but most likely, the parents are just as guilty as the little brat that they raised. I would be interested in seeing if the parents are ***, have records, if they are ever home, etc. What are they breeding***?

Not too sure what the comment about Dave Fessler has to do with this article? Clearly, the article pertains to Robert Fessler, who was protecting and serving our community.

LMFAO about how immature and jealous people can be about those who are doing better than they are with their lives. Grow up.

Thank you to Robert Fessler for putting his life on the line that night and countless others. His actions are most certainly overlooked in that respect.

Mon, 10/13/2008 - 7:18am

So who is Dave Fessler I thought the policemans name was Robert?

Mon, 10/13/2008 - 7:15am

Are these kids just this bored or just this angry. I guess there are no caring parents or the article would have said released into the care of his parents. Instead a relative had to get him. Hopefully a caring Uncle or Older Brother.
Are there no YOUNG LIFE groups working the high schools down here. My word it is only October and these kids are going crazy already. Can't we help these Kids.
