CAPE MAY -- Oh, the difference one day can make.
While Tropical Storm Hanna may have chased away some visitors to Cape May on Sept. 6, the storm did leave behind a gift, a new stretch of beach on what would normally be the waterside of the Third Avenue Jetty.
A 25-foot wide swatch of sand now occupies what used to be a favorite spot for surfers.
The jetty which is normally awash during high tide, now sits more than 20 feet from the surf. It remains to be seen if subsequent high tides will reclaim the new stretch of beach. Visitors were sitting on the news strand of beach at 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 7.
Elsewhere in the county, the storm downed trees and caused arcing wires on Sept. 6 as it swept northward into New England.

We were lucky....this time. Wait until the next storm then your precious beach will wash away again. We must understand. The force of nature is not to be reckoned with. It will win in the long run.

~The Wedding of the Sea~
~*~
The wedding of the sea, hear her lullabies,
soft-songs imbued, O’ her tendered eulogies.
Rings of enchantment chime a gentle unison;
aloft wayfaring dance, her silt-harbour hymn.
~*~
Sweet tintinnabulations sway ’pon her music,
harpsichords play within her choristers mimic.
Resounding echoes traverse ‘pon her evensong,
drifting in her heavenly-inspired angelic throng.
~*~
Seraphim's undulate the azure-veils cloudlet sky,
sweeping the horizon ‘pon chariots of silv’ry spry.
Her twinkling notes caress the graceful-spun alter,
this, an implosion, bursting in her rainbow svelter.
~*~
Lovely waltzes pirouette in heartfelt, tandem accord;
candescent overtures spiral the epiphany of our Lord.
Prayerful encounters harvest our faith on bended knee;
as, all the while, love sings ‘pon the wedding of the sea.

I've seen worst thunder storms! This was just a way for the news stations to sell more commercial spots.
