OCEAN CITY — Lingering throughout the day in the Boardwalk’s 12th Street public restroom on Aug. 31 led to a harassment charge being filed against a Plainsboro man.

According to a release, on Aug. 31 at 4:10 p.m., Ocean City Police Department responded to a suspicious person at the 12th Street restroom. It was reported by the victim that a person was in one of the restroom stalls for several hours.

The victim first encountered the suspect around 9:30 a.m. At that time the victim only observed a person with jeans and a black backpack using the stall next to the victim’s.

Later in the day the victim again returned to the restroom. Upon entering the bathroom stall the victim observed the same backpack in the next stall and also a person with the same clothing as earlier in the day. While the victim was using the restroom he observed the person in the next stall looking under the partition.

The victim immediately contacted police about the two events.

Police Officers Jen Barbato and Matt Kroll entered the restroom after all other patrons had left. The officers were able to make the same observations of the suspect occupying the bathroom stall reported by the victim.

At that time the suspect, Koi M. Morris, 36, of Plainsboro was asked to exit the stall and was placed under arrest. The Morris was charged with harassment on a summons and released.

8:13, I'm sorry to pile on, but, aside from your extreme extrapolation to Parkway restrooms, do you REALLY think that the OCPD should deploy 2 officers, at least one patrol car, and the associated support expenses to a potty patrol detail? If you live in NJ and have property taxes anywhere approaching mine you would probably serve yourself well by being skeptical of how your tax dollars are being spent. Send personnel to several silly calls like this in a week and pretty soon you are getting close to an unnecessary salary. I think the police need to have sufficient manpower to cover real crime and emergencies and no more. I don’t like seeing my taxdollars wasted. There is no way they could make a harrassment charge stick and the police response was clearly wasteful.

To Friday at 8:13am- You said " I guess if you are one of the people who likes looking under bathroom stalls while people are taking a crap than you would take the opportunity to show your support."

I think the guy who reported this that was also looking under the stalls, in fact he was probably the first. Why would you take note of the man in the other stall's clothing and belongings. When I go to the bathroom I am not noting the attire of the man pooping next to me, I am consentrating on my own business. This sounds like a really paranoid person that feels like everyone is watching him in a public restroom. In reality I don't think there was any funny business going on... I mean come on hes not a republican senator.

I'm going to have to agree with 9:49 pm. I have a disorder and use the bathroom numerous times in one day... so if I am out at the beach for the day I might find myself going to the same restroom numerous times. So lets say I was in there while this guy was going to bathroom and then he comes in later that day to find me "still" in there, do the police have the right to arrest me for having a spastic colon. To 8:36 am, you were a little dramatic with your interpretation of the situation. If he was up to no good, the police got lucky on a hunch... but if he has a disorder and this guy was wrongfully arrested, i hope the officers get in trouble and the "good samaritan" gets nailed with false alarm charges.

It's unbelievable that 9:49 and 2:47 support this guy. I guess if you are one of the people who likes looking under bathroom stalls while people are taking a crap than you would take the opportunity to show your support. Well 2:47 and 9:49 go back to the Parkway Rest areas and look at eachother under the stalls. I am sure you will find eachother.

Hey 8:36, the guy was probably just constipated. I hope you get arrested the next time you forget to eat your prunes. You can bet that the arrest was invalidated and ended up being a waste of time and money since there was obviously no real crime committed. Better yet, why not just arrest anyone who used the restroom in the first place since anyone who even enters a public restroom is obviously up to no good.

Hats off to the person that reported this seemingly 'trival' crime and to the OCPD - most of the worlds most horrific sexual predators start out with 'trival' crimes.......maybe if someone saw the monster that killed the family in Idaho and sexual tortured the young children and reported he was 'watching' the family's house............maybe 4 people would be alive and one poor little girl wouldn't have been raped and forced to watched her brother sexual tortured and killed......just maybe.

Boy, the Ocean City Police must have a lot of extra time on their hands if they can send (at least) 2 cops to investigate something as trivial as this. They actually charged someone with spending too much time in the restroom? Unbelievable. These guys need real jobs. Talk about being overstaffed!
