ERMA — Lower Township Police Department reports that, on the nights of Aug. 26 and Aug. 27, numerous vehicles off Route 9 in this community, were burglarized.

Suspects entered the vehicles that were unlocked and removed items, such as loose change, cash, wallets, credit cards, car radios, cell phones, jumper cables and other items.

Streets involved in the crime spree were Carol, Shirly, Fay and Myrtle avenues, Walnut, Oak, Willow and Erma lanes.

Lower Township Patrolman Dallas Bohn was able to recover several pieces of stolen property as he searched a wooded area in the neighborhood. Bohn recovered a satellite radio, several wallets and several credit cards, all of which were returned to their owners.

Lower Township Police Department reminds residents and visitors to take the tiem to lock their vehicles overnight to deter those types of "quick grab" thefts.

Lower Township Police recently arrested a suspect in connection with similar thefts from vehicles in the North Cape May section over the past few months.

For the person who wrote that if you left your car unlocked you deserved this, I have to say that your comment was VERY ignorant. ..... First of all... Although my vehicles WERE broken into, they were, in fact, not intentionally unlocked. Also, I have lived in the area for quite a few years with no incidents occuring like this and did not expect it. When I came to Erma from Phila, I wasn't by any means nieve, but expected to live in an area a bit diff from those parts of Philly where this is common place. I only hope with your lack of compassion, that you never have someone completely violate you by touching or entering something that you and your children do on a regular basis

Just based on your first IGNORANT comment, I'm sure you will have another to post. Just to let you know, after that, I really do not care what you have to say!!!!!!!!!

What I do have to say is.... the I commend the Lower Township Police Department for their efforts to catch the person(s) who are responsible. Thank you!!!!!! LB

I hope the police dept. can step up patrols in this area.I have lived on willow dr. for over 30 years and never had to worry locking car doors that are parked in the driveway. These suspects (dirtbags) need to find something else to do.
