Good Samaritan Boater Saves Capsized Sailor

SOMERS POINT -- A Good Samaritan rescued a man Aug. 27 after the boat he was aboard capsized south of the Ship Channel Bridge near Somers Point.

The Coast Guard received a call at 12:32 p.m. reporting a person clinging to an overturned sailboat.

A Good Samaritan aboard a boat rescued the man from the water.

"He was wearing a life jacket and was in the water for about 15 minutes before he was rescued by a Good Samaritan," said Seaman Brendan Loerch a crewman from Coast Guard Station Great Egg,

A rescue boat crew from Station Great Egg arrived on scene and towed the boat to Ocean City Yacht Club in Ocean City.
