For one night only, the Cape May Film Society will screen Chad Shagren’s film, “Flying Kites.” The film had its premiere earlier this month to a sell-out audience at the Cape May Stage. On Tuesday, August 26, at 8:00 p.m. it will be screened at Cape May Stage once again. “The documentary concentrates on orphans in Kenya, Africa,” says Shagren. “You’ll meet Ben, an HIV positive orphan, and the daily hardships present in an over capacitated orphanage in Sub-Saharan Africa. Yet the children of the orphanage never give up, confronting each day’s obstacles relentlessly, showing hope, resolve, and in Ben’s case, humor.”
The Cape May Film Society will host the eighth annual Cape May Film Festival on November 21 - 23, 2008. The event is New Jersey’s premiere film festival dedicated to the support and presentation of creative, challenging, groundbreaking, film/video works by New Jersey filmmakers. The Society is also the region’s leading educational and cultural resource for youth and adult learners interested in all facets of the cinematic experience.
