TUCKAHOE- At 6:02 p.m. on August 18, The Tuckahoe Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a brush fire on Weatherby Road.

When the department's first unit arrived, they reported several separate fires in one of the abandon April Brothers cannery buildings about a half mile west of the Route 49 intersection.

According to Fire Chief Chatten, building debris that have collapsed over the years and vegetation that has grown up, in and around the building were on fire when they arrived.

The fire was quickly extinguished and under control in ten minutes, said Chatten.

Since the abandon building has no ignition sources the fire has been ruled suspicious and State Police at the Woodbine Station were called to the scene.

The Upper Townsip Rescue Squad also responded to the scene to standby while firefighters worked.

The fire remains under investigation by State Troopers at the Woodbine Station. If anyone witnessed suspicious activity in the area they are asked to call State Police at 609-861-5698

I was out there with the fire company last time this place went up, spent 7 hours there, and had to call out of work the next day because I didnt get to sleep. Even had to go back the next day because the morons light a fire again.

People need to stop their antics with this place and the owners need to run a bulldozer through it and put a good fence up.
