LOWER TOWNSHIP- The Lower Township Police Department, kicking off the State’s DWI Enforcement Detail of “Over the Limit, Under Arrest,” made a total of five DWI arrests over the weekend.

A DWI arrest was even made by the department’s executive officer, Captain Louis Russo, while Russo was patrolling the township at approximately 10 pm on Sunday evening. Captain Russo made the arrest on his own and was not part of the extra duty DWI Patrols.

The following is a break down of those arrested:

1. Friday, August l5”, motor vehicle stop, Bayshore and Fishing Creek Roads, 25 year old female driver, arrested for DWI at 2:05 am. Arresting officer was Patrolman Charles Fitzmaurice.

2. Saturday, August 16th, 6:15 pm, Jacksonville Avenue, Villas, as a result of a motor vehicle investigation, 45 year old male driver arrested for DWI. Arresting officer, Patrolman Brian McEwing.

3, Saturday, August 1W”, 10:45 pm, motor vehicle stop at Townbank and Bayshore Roads. A 67 year old male driver was arrested for OWl, failure to report an accident, leaving the scene of an accident and careless driving. Arresting officer, Patrolman Jennifer Anzelone on DWI Patrol.

4. On Sunday August 17th 2:00 am, motor vehicle stop Birch Road, Villas, 49 year old male driver arrested for DWI, driving with a suspended driver’s license and speeding. Arresting officer, Patrolman Jennifer Anzelone on DWl Patrol.

5. Sunday, August l7, 10:00 pm, motor vehicle stop at Iowa and States Avenues, Villas, 58 year old male driver arrested for DWI, failure to maintain a lane, driving with a suspended drivers license and being an uninsured motorist. Arresting officer, Captain Louis Russo.

The Lower Township Police Department recently received a grant to participate in the State’s “Over The Limit, Under Arrest,” DWI Enforcement Program.
