Novsak accepts her Volunteer of the Year award from TSS Photography along with her family and Middle Township Mayor F. Nathan Doughty and Deputy Mayor Susan Delanzo.

COURT HOUSE — Coach, team parent and all-around helper are some of the titles that helped Lisa Novsak win a volunteer award from a national photography company.

Novsak was named Volunteer of the Year for the state of New Jersey and TSS Photography presented her with a commemorative plaque and a complementary $150 photo package for her volunteer work with the Middle Township Recreation Department.

“This is a very special award in that it recognizes the hard work and dedication of volunteers across the nation, who strive to shape the future of our youth through sport leagues, schools, and other organizations throughout the year,” said Shawn Francis, TSS director of franchise business development.

“This award is presented to top volunteers from organizations throughout the country that sought to show how much they value its volunteers.”

Recreation Director Chuck McDonnell nominated Novsak for her tireless work with the softball, basketball and soccer programs. TSS also presented the recreation department with a check for $500 for nominating the winner and for supporting youth activities.

McDonnell wanted to thank Novsak for her dedication and TSS for the donation, which would help improve youth recreation programs in the township, he said.

Novsak, who also volunteers for Middle Township PTA, has two daughters – Lauren, 11, and Maribeth, 9 – involved in recreation department activities.

Novsak was humbled by the award and used the opportunity to recruit volunteers.

“I’m very honored to win this award,” she said. “I’d like to get the word out that we’re always looking for new more volunteers to help with the many different activities. The more helping hands, the lighter the load.”
