SEA ISLE CITY – On July 31, Sea Isle City Mayor Leonard Desiderio hosted an installation ceremony in which the municipality’s new police chief, Thomas J. D’Intino, and four other recently- promoted Sea Isle City Police Department employees were officially sworn to duty.

At the start of the ceremony, which included a color guard procession by VFW Post 1963 and Boy Scout Troop 76, Desiderio gave a brief speech in which he highlighted the qualities a good police officer.

The mayor thanked the many guests in attendance including U.S. Marshal James T. Plousis, Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor, County Police Academy Director Gary Schaffer, and Bill Carson, representing U.S. Rep. Frank LoBiondo.
Desiderio thanked the 150 other guests, including members of Sea Isle City Council, various municipal department heads, the officers’ families and the public.

After Chief D’Intino, Capt. Michael Jargowsky, Lt. Rosemary Milano, Sgt. Anthony Garreffi, Jr. and Senior Public Safety Telecommunicator Thomas DeLozier were sworn, the chief walked to the podium to thank his family and the community for the opportunity.

He said he looked to the future “with great anticipation and high expectations.”

D’Intino, a life-long Sea Isle City resident, is a 19-year veteran with the department.

Jargowsky, also a life-long resort resident, has been with the department for 23 years.

Garreffi has a seven-year history with the department, and Milano has been with the organization for 21 years. Milano also has the distinction of being the first woman to join the department in 1987, as well as being the department's first woman to reach the rank of lieutenant.

According to Schaffer, the Republican candidate for sheriff, “the people of Sea Isle City are in good hands with D’Intino and the other newly promoted officers.”

“This is an exciting day for Sea Isle City,” said Schaffer. “The mayor has chosen talented and highly qualified people for these leadership roles, and it has been my privilege to train them, work with them, and see them mature as officers. Also, they are all (currently) instructors at my academy and they contribute greatly to our program. I congratulate the mayor for making a wise choice and setting a new direction for this police department.”
