To The Editor: On a recent evening, after enjoying a family dinner ar Marabella's, hobbling with a recently broken toe to my car parked on 95th Street in Stone Harbor, I saw a police officer looking at my car and the meter. I hailed him that I was on my way, and greeted him at my car before he started to write me a summons. The meter was probably five minutes overdue (and that was the fourth meter I'd fed that day in Stone Harbor), but he nevertheless commenced to write out the ticket. As a former summer officer in another resort, we were instructed never to write up a ticket if the motorist got to us before we started writing the ticket. I think this was really nasty treatment of a summer visitor, and henceforth am boycotting all Stone Harbor businesses and will confine my spending to Avalon. I will not spend one more dollar at any Stone Harbor merchant this summer nor in the future, so I hope these merchants and service providers we patronize (to the tune of $15,000 plus this year alone), duly thank the Stone Harbor mayor and police department. FRANK M. LESHER Avalon (ED. NOTE: The author is a summer resident.)
