Motel Camera Captures Images; Cops Cuff Suspect in Thefts

WILDWOOD CREST — A Dover, Del. man was arrested July 17 after being identified by surveillance photos as an alleged suspect in burglary and theft cases at a borough motel.

According to a police release, Wildwood Crest police were notified on July 17 of a burglary and theft from a room at the Adventurer Motel, Morning Glory and the beach.

Motel management told police that images of an unknown suspect had been captured on their video surveillance system.

Police had also been summoned to the same motel 10 days prior, July 7, for a similar report.

A suspect for the burglary and theft had also been captured on the video equipment.

When detectives viewed the footage, they determined that the same white male was responsible for both crimes. Still photos were taken from the video footage and given to local police.

At 4:52 p.m., Detective Sgt. Michael Hawthorne observed a white male walking on Pacific Avenue in the borough who closely resembled the images from the video camera.

The suspect, identified as Danny Davis, 39. Pf the 200 block Mifflen Road, Dover, Del. was detained and interviewed.

Davis “unwittingly supplied information that led detectives to the location of several of the victim’s stolen belongings that connected him to the burglaries.

Davis was charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of theft. He was remanded to county jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
