first off.....

people make mistakes. THE HUMAN RACE ISNT PERFECT PEOPLE!!! the ONLY person who has the right to judge someone is GOD. if they were truley sorry, no matter how stupid what they did was, god will forgive them. you dont know how these kids lifes are. no one knows but them & the poor kids are neglected. and its not like they could explain their lifes because the system doesnt want to hear it or believe it. they are way to hard on juveniles. they should listen to what the kids have to say and go from there. it seems to me these kids have something going on in their life besides wanting to steal. it could be a mental issue, drug or alcohol issue, or its the home they were raised in. i actually know the 17 yr old male and the 17 yr old female and indeed they have rough lifes. They were infact neglected as children. They went through tough times with money and a place to stay. Both have divorced parents. Their 2 kids in love struggling to be together. They have a baby on the way and plan to get married in 2 months. How will they do that if their parents wont agree to an arrangment and neither will authorites? the problem is everybody is used to living life with a silver spoon. did you ever once wonder what its like on the streets? If the parents agreed to a living arrangement with the couple and their soon-to-be baby, none of this would have happened. Would you want to be away from your wife or husband and kid for days upon days? Their in LOVE and no one is breaking them up. Their lifes are crumbling on them and all they wanna do is be together FOREVER. See, you rich people out their dont know what its like to struggle; to be in love when people dont accept it. Eventually these kids will be pushed into a romeo and juliet sanario. all they want to do is start a family, grow old together, and die beside eachother. and that is a 100% fact. dont get me wrong they did what they did, but these kids dont deserve a detention center. that will just make them worse............................................the end.

Well, since you want to throw insults instead of debating, I guess any intelligent conversation with you would be futile. Everyone who knows me knows that I don't hide behind anything. I believe that status quo just want do. I try to get new ideas to the government and people and sometimes I learn things. One thing I don't do is judge people because someone above has that power. If you can't handle debate or someone questioning your point, then you shouldn't comment. When you want to debate, I live on Syracuse Ave in the Crest. My son was in a couple of the Baby Parades and won. I work in the restaurant/hotel business. I don't hide from anyone. Go figure it out!

Excuse my poor key boarding skills, I tend to transpose letters. Most people wouldn't comment on it.

I'm curious, you say you can't be a bad parent becuase your kids are young...what age does bad parenting affect kids?

You made a another weird statement about being Morey's servant, what does that mean?

No, my point was that American kids are lazy to the point that is critical when we can't fill our labor needs without foreign kids. This is a big problem for seasonal employers. You have repeatedly failed to understand this. That was my point...you can have your own point if you want.

I am starting to get the idea that you are one of those people who haunt message boards, only to antagonize people, engage in name calling and hurl insults. Probably because you are an impotent coward who is easily intimidated when face to face with people. Instead you prefer to hide behind your computer where you are anonymous...and safe.

Don't bother leaving another comment directed at me...I won't be back to read it. Since this story is growing old, there probably won't be anybody else to read it either. I doubt you will be able to resist leaving another irrational comment because(whoops...almost reversed two letters again!) after all....you are pathetic.! Bye

11:31pm...Hardly, I was one of the victims! Also, one of the kids lives on the same street. I was one of the first to comment on the story. I was also the one who notified authorities of the noise problems, M80's going off at 1am, drinking, etc that has been going on for about a month on the 2 blocks in question. My kids are 2 and 4 so nice try accusing me of being a bad parent. You know what they say about assuming...don't you?

The point I was making or questioning was why you mentioned employers getting help from Europe (which you also spelled incorrectly). What does that comment have to do with the issue here? These punks, whether they have jobs or not, are indicative of a bigger issue. This generation wants the easy way out and the lack of parental guidance and morals is partially to blame. That is the point, not how many Europeans are hired to make up for the lazy Americans!

I've read the story and the comments. What do the Moreys have to do with this? Did I miss something.

Outsourcing would be sending jobs to other countries. What this guy is talking about is importing labor to fill spots that, more and more, seem to be left vacant.

I agree with many other comments here. Kids are not getting leadership and direction from their parents, Instead, the kids get Ipods and x-boxes. I have talked to parents who have actually encouraged their kids NOT to work, telling them "just be a kid." Working is an important part of being a kid. It teaches kids responsibility and disipline.

Also, I have seen statistics that show Americans test scores in math and sciences are slipping behind many other countries, one study had the US ranked at 17th. Another shows incidence of obesity is rising rapidly. We are not doing our kids any favors.

Also, the kid with the machete seems to have another set of issues. I wonder if this kid got a psychological evaluation.

Thu, 07/17/2008 - 11:31pm

No need to resort to name calling. I'm sorry I transposed two letters in "their", but the fact that my kid has never been arrested is more important. Nobody made this an immigration issue. I as am employer, only point out the difficulty in finding American kids who will work and have a good work ethic. It is smply not being instilled in them by many parents such as yourself. We need the European kids or we could not run our business. It is an "our kids are fat, lazy and stupid" issue.

I'm not sure at all why you brought up the Moreys. I assure you that I don't work for them. I have no idea what kids killing people or being soldiers in other countries has to do with this! Are you drunk?

You sound like you are taking this personally. Are you the parent of one of these losers? If so,congratulations on a job well screwed up. Maybe you should make further rants and engage in more name calling, this will ease the guilt of being a failure as a parent.

Thu, 07/17/2008 - 3:45pm

How do you turn this into an immigration and outsourcing of America issue? Do you work for the Morey's? Unfortunately, kids have been robbing people and killing people for ages. It is not just the sign of 2008. Kids in other countries are soldiers at the age of 10 or 12. While I do not like the direction the country and the kids are going, I certainly would not lump them together as lazy or criminals. That would be prejudicial, labeling, and an easy out for kids who are struggling. To make it an issue to explain foreign workers is unreprehensible!!! Get a life Morey's servant!

P.S. Their not thier!!! All the more reason for you to get an education!

Insane? thats a cop out by a weak parent if ever I heard one.

Every generation since the Great Depression has tried to make things better for thier kids, to give them more. Over time, this has spoiled us. Each generation has been more spoiled than the previous. Parents who have had it too easy don't want to grow up. The parent-child relationship has changed. Many parents want to be thier childs friend, they have lost thier authority role. Children need an authority figure, not an over indugling buddy! As a result American children have become lazier, fatter and more stupid than any others in the world. It has become critical! Employers have had to depend on kids from Eurpoe and Mexico to fill thier needs. When you do get American kids, they have no work ethic and usually quit or have to be terminated.

Mon, 07/14/2008 - 7:22pm

You don't have to beat your kids in order for them to not grow up to be theives. I guess the parent really don't care about them whether they do good or bad and bad is so much more fun for a lot of young people. Why be good?

Mon, 07/14/2008 - 9:38am

You people are ridiculous to assume that the parents are at fault. Teenagers today are exposed to so much negativity, violence, and so many messages of self indulgence, it is not necessarily bad parenting that leads to this. And yes, they were released, what are the police supposed to do, keep them forever? You people are insane to assume that this world is as black and white as you say.

Is there a juvenile detention center in Cape May County?
The justice system is too lenient. One of the biggest problems today is the parent(s). I have seen small children (in church, in the pizza place, etc.) smack their parent in the face and they just say "Please don't do that honey!" Yeah right! Gone are the days when you can correct your child in public instead of begging not to be hit! Take them home and teach them right from wrong instead of saying "What do you want to eat, Where do you want to go, What do you want to wear?" Kids rule in today's society to the detriment of the general public. Maybe if parents start when they are younger, they won't be criminals when they are teenagers. Of course you still have a percentage of those who aren't criminals. I suppose that is because they are too busy holding up their pants!

Sun, 07/13/2008 - 4:12pm

As a parent of 2 teenage boys, I know first hand how "out of control" theses children are, the problem is...THE SYSTEM. We cannot even spank our children without getting into trouble. These kids need to pay for there actions. NOT the parents!

Sun, 07/13/2008 - 12:08pm

Why are parents today so into indulging thier kids instead of teaching and disiplining them. I work with the public, and see case after case of kids "verbally" smacking their parents around. The parents, with a lame, embarassed smile on thier face, say nothing, or worse, apologize! Parents are wimps today and seem to feel that thier roll should be to serve thier kids every whim. Sick!

Sun, 07/13/2008 - 7:47am

all 4 juveniles shall be in jail. i don't care what age they are.

Sat, 07/12/2008 - 5:48am

i agree with the person who said kids today arent allowed to be disciplined. thats whats wrong with kids today. they need a good whoopin and need to learn how to respect their elders and others property. not all but most kids today are just obnoxious and disrespectful. i wouldnt talk to my parents today as old as i am the way these kids today do.

Sat, 07/12/2008 - 2:46am

What a joke!!! What happens to these kids when their parents have to go to their job or jobs? There is no monitoring system in the county so these kids will be free to repeat their behavior. CMC, with a recent proven track record, has been extrememly lenient on criminals with charges and low bail. If these kids committed those crimes in Florida, they would have been held with a minimum of 100k bail NOT released to their parents. An armed robbery with a deadly weagon gets released to the parent's custody? Someone in the press needs to grill why prosecutors and judges in this county go easy on juvenile crime and crime as a whole. Please report what judge or authority that allowed them to go home to their flatscreen, internet access, late nights out, drug use, etc so that when they repeat this behavior, we know who should be held accountable. Also, their past behavior has indicated that there is drug use involved. Watching the kid get in and out of a car who picks him up then drives around the block and drops him back off. I called that one months ago!

Fri, 07/11/2008 - 6:07pm

As one of the victims, it is a disgrace that they were released to the parents custody. These punks, in addition to others around the block, have been drinking, violating noise ordinances, and setting off M80's waking much of the block at 1am. Along with the punks in Cape May who started a fight with tourists, they need to be held accountable and made an example out of. It is bad enough with the price of gas, economy, working multiple jobs, and raising kids in this environment that one also has to worry about lazy and disrepectful kids that steal your hard earned dollars. If they want to commit big boy crimes, they should do big boy time. I think they will learn respect when their virginity is taken away along with their freedom.

THIS IS WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOUR NOT ALLOWED TO SMACK THE KIDS UPSIDE THE HEAD LIKE WE WERE WHEN WE WERE YOUNG. BACK IN THE DAY YOU WERE AFRAID TO DO STUFF LIKE THIS.
