CAPE MAY — As Old Blue Eyes used to croon, “Three coins in the fountain, through the ripples how they shine,” a local man was so mesmerized by the shiny nickels in a fountain on the Washington Street Mall, he decided to take some home for himself.
On July 1 at approximately 1:40 a.m., Marek Topyla, of Cape May, was arrested for stealing change from the fountain.
Police caught him in the act of scooping coins using a plastic device to aid in the removal.
According to police, Topyla had $32.80 in coins in his possession.
Topyla, 24, was charged with theft on a summons pending a hearing in Cape May municipal court.
Patrolman Scott Krissinger made the arrest.

with food and fuel prices where they are, small wonder. The cops should make better use of their time.

it appears that these coins are in a wishing well type pool. Who actually owns the coins?
If the fountain is maintained by the tax payers, then should not the coins be owned by the tax payers? it sounds like he was just taking a withdraw!!!
