VILLAS- Lower Township Police, Lower Township Rescue Squad and Villas Fire company responded to a report of a utility pole fire shorty before midnight on June 27.
The pole was near the west side of Bayside Bakery, approximately 100 feet off Bayshore Road.
Fire Chief Andrew Hilvert told the Herald that the wire appeared to be a telephone line and they were standing by until Atlantic City Electric arrived.
The wire caught fire in several locations, and one large component was melting onto the ground.
The cause of the fire is not available at this time.
