VILLAS –– At approximately 2:14 a.m. on Friday May 16 Lower Township police responded to a call on Vermont Avenue here where Dolores Milco reported that a bare chested white male had entered her bedroom carrying an ax handle yelling about being chased.

Milco's husband was able to get intruder out of the house and locked the door behind him. It is believed that the front door of the Milco resident was open at the time of the intrusion.

Police responded to the scene recovered an ax handle and began a search of the area for the suspect.

Several reports were received with the subject running through yards on Arizona and Oregon Avenue. A short time later, a report was received from the Villas 7-11 convenience store that a bare chested white male had entered the store and was threatening the clerk.

Upon police arrival at the store, the subject was identified as the intruder on Vermont Avenue and taken into custody.

Leslie R. Headley, 43, of 301 Arizona Avenue in the Villas was charged with burglary, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.

He was lodged in county jail in default of $25,000 cash bail. No other people were observed in the area or chasing Mr. Headley.
