COURT HOUSE –– On May 15 at about 1:24 a.m., Middle Township police investigated a curfew violation in Edgewood.
While on foot, the officers observed an ATV riding around on the surrounding streets. When the officers attempted to pull over the ATV, the driver, Kenneth Copson eluded police and struck Officer Steven Novsak with the vehicle.
Copson, 19, was charged with aggravated assault, eluding and possession of marijuana.
He was remanded to county jail in lieu of $35,000 cash bail.
Novsak was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Novsak family. I am sure there are more good people in this world than bad. Please, let's unite, and do something to protect our family's against these sloth's. Once in the system, they are spoiled, have no goals, and make us victims, because we have big hearts. This needs to change for the better, but it will take a strong will to stand up and vote out the left wing so called "politically correct" weaklings. Don't let the journalists opinions act as facts. Research! Vote to make a strong change.

Being a family member of Kenneth I feel that what he did was a horrible thing. However I do not agree with some of the language that the editor is accepting to what he did. I mean come on now. To the person on 05/16/2008 - 11:54am I dont undertstand why you would put something about the family dealing with a Loser like him, wake up and realize that he maybe the person but the family didnt have anything to do with it and shouldnt have to read things like that.

GOD SPEED Officer Novsak, we are all praying for you and for a speedy recovery. It is an insult to Officer Nosak, his family and fellow law enforcement that this WASTE OF LIFE Copson was charged with aggravated assault. This scumbag should have been cherged with attempted murder.

I drove down Edgewood, 6th and then Main this afternoon, out of curiosity. What a beautiful neighborhood! Too bad some loose cannons are ruining the idyllic atmosphere, but *maybe* this will help the Middle cops see we need some strict ATV enforcement that STINGS!

There is a need here in Middle Township for more Police Officers. Look around at some of these towns. In cities of no more than 26 blocks they have triple the amount of cops needed. Maybe they could lend some to Middle Township.

As the community grows, so should the police department. Mr. Barry, with your way of thinking you are going to get one of our officers killed. Explain that to a family.

I live in this neighborhood that this police officier got hurt. But stuff like this has been going on for about 4 years now. We the people in the neighboorhood have been calling the police all the time to report the drug dealings and curfew issues. Unfortunately Middle township police can never do anything to these so called losers. Its a shame that a officier got hurt but maybe MIddle Township Pole Dept will wake up now and see what we are dealing with, the neighboorhood is a nice place to live if we could get these 2 houses that cause the problems all the time out of here. My prayers go the the family.

Just more proof we need more cops Mr Barry! Not less. Maybe you would not have minded going to let his wife and kids know he was hurt. Fortunately it could have been much worse. Maybe revisiting the manpower issue would be good before it bites you in the a$s. Why doesn't the herald do some real reporting and find out how many cops were present. The best they can do is report how fast the cops were driving to the scene though, I'm sure.

Another little druggie punk off the street. Unfortunately it was at the expense of an officer's health. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Novasac Family that everything is okay. I hope they throw the book at this LOSER.
