UPDATE: Police Arrest Stabbing Suspect

WHITESBORO — Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Chief Joseph Evangelista of Middle Township Police Department announced the arrest of Donte Alston in the stabbing of two subjects on May 13, 2008 that occurred in the Whitesboro section of Middle Township.
The exhaustive two-day investigation uncovered evidence that Alston may be located in a residence located in the 4200 block of Pacific Avenue in Wildwood, New Jersey. As a result of this information, members of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, the Middle Township Police Major Crime Unit and Street Crimes Unit and the Wildwood Police Patrol Division initiated a surveillance operation of the residence and surrounding area. At approximately 4:15 pm, surveillance units observed Donte Aiston exiting the residence and enter a vehicle being operated by an unknown female, later identified as Jennifer Erhart. Following a motor vehicle stop executed by the Wildwood Police Patrol Division, Alston and Erhart were placed into custody without incident.
Alston was transported to the Middle Township Police Department where he was processed and served with criminal complaints for Aggravated Assault, a crime of the second degree, Hindering Apprehension, a crime of the third degree and numerous weapons offenses. Alston was committed to the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.
Erhart, a North Wildwood resident, was charged with Hindering Apprehension, a crime of the third degree Erhart was released on a summons.
Persons convicted of second degree crimes are subject to five to ten years in New Jersey State Prison and persons convicted of crimes of the third degree are subject to three to five years in New Jersey State Prison.
Prosecutor Taylor and Chief Evangelista would like to commend the members of the Middle Township Police Department, the Wildwood Police Department, the Cape May County Sheriff’s Department and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office for their cooperative effort in this investigation.
On May 13, 2008, at approximately 11 a,m., Middle Township Police received a report of two persons that had been stabbed outside of a residence at Termessee and Wildwood Avenues in the Whitesboro section of Middle Township.
Police and emergency medical personnel responded and found Andre Moore and Eric Smith, both of whom were suffering from stab wounds to the torso.
The victims were able to tell police that the person who stabbed them was Donte Terrel Alston. According to the victims and several eyewitnesses, Alston and Eric Smith had an ongoing dispute which was the catalyst for altercation that led to the stabbing.
The investigation revealed that Donte Alston and Shannon Conn, arrived at Tennessee and Wildwood Avenue in Conn’s vehicle. Smith and Moore exited their Tennessee Avenue residence and encountered Alston who allegedly stabbed Smith and Moore.
Following the altercation, Alston and Conn left the area.
The County Search Plan was activated to search for the suspect vehicle. Shortly after the search plan’s activation, Wildwood Police located the suspect vehicle which was being operated by Conn. Alston was not in the vehicle.
Conn was placed into custody and transported to the Middle Township Police Department where she was charged with Hindering Apprehension, a crime of the third degree and Conspiracy to commit Aggravated Assault, also a crime of the third degree.
Charges were also filed against Alston for Aggravated Assault, a crime of the second degree, Conspiracy to commit Aggravated Assault, a crime of the third degree, Hindering Apprehension, a crime of the third degree and various weapons offenses.
Persons convicted of second degree crimes are subject to five to ten years in New Jersey State Prison and persons convicted of crimes of the third degree are subject to three to five years in New Jersey State Prison.
The victims were treated for their injuries which are described as non-life threatening.

Fri 4:24pm, you really show your intelligence level. Read what I wrote again. My sister was molested by a family member who I then attacked. I plead guilty and went to prison. That was years ago. In all my years, knowing hundreds of black men and dating a few black women, I never met ONE black man who admitted he was guilty of his crime(s). They blame others and take no accountability for their actions! It was always them being framed. Anyone who would defend criminal and irresponsible behavior lacks the capacity to be objective. The LAST thing I would ever do is protect a child molestor! You are borderline slanderous in your ignorant statement! As for my statements, they are of personal experience and from Government statistics. If you would like knowledge on the issue, google 'black on white crime' and look under the records the Government keeps, but the media is afraid to report! I bet 98% of you people leaving comments don't even know any of the indviduals involved. Well, I do. Sometimes things can get out of hand quick. I know Donte has made mistakes, but he is a good father and provided for his family. And the heavy set woman is nowhere near 300 lbs. Just because she isn't one of these little white girls that run around starving themselves, doesn't mean she's just some big slob. She is a very smart, pretty young lady that takes care of her responsibiities including her beautiful baby. So, please don't portray her as some kind of lazy piece white trash that jut sits back and collects welfare. She is a worker. It's really a shame that people are so quick to judge when they really have no clue. But I know people around here have nothing better to do. By next week, this will be old news, and the degenerates of this county will find something else they know nothing about to gossip about.

First of all, no one knows the real story behind all of this. Nobody knows that there were 7 or 8 men attempting to jump the "suspect" with everything from chains to tree branches. As far as this black on white crime nonsense, it's not even relevant. Everyone involved in the actual fight was black. It's so apparent that Cape May County still has major issues with racism and stereotyping. To the person who claims that blacks are more likely to rape, well, where do you get your information? It is a fact that most sexual assaults tht occur are commited by white middle-aged men. It's the same for serial killers too. This county is full of uneducated people. It's also a fact that more blacks are incarcerated in prison because more minorities live in poverty. Maybe while this guy was in jail, he should've taken a few courses instead of just wasting time. And what kind of trashy lowlife are you to defend a molester? Everyone should consider the source. And I don't understand why it matters who h has children by. So, to that idiot, you get what? The real losers in this story is the citizens of this county. First we are going to have to pay to keep him in jail ,second this 300+ pound boehemoth of a women and he sweet little offspring will now need welfare for the next 18 years . I do have first hand knowledge of the black on white issue. I spent 5 years in a Florida prison because I stuck up for someone in my family who accused another of molestation. Unlike others, I was like Morgan Freeman in Shawshank Redemption and always admitted my guilt. Now that I have children, I try 1000% not to repeat my past and to protect them from the people I saw in the system who have NO accountability. During that time, the blacks rejoiced when OJ got off. They talk pure trash about white women behind bars and rush to be with them when released. I have been robbed once in my life and it was by black men. My sister was beaten by a black man. A black man tried to kill me in prison with a pic axe because someone paid him to do it. I have never had a white person commit a crime against me. Do you get the theme? Black men, not all, but as a majority are MORE likely to rob, kill, or rape a white person than the reverse. As long as you protect those that are lazy, those who want the easy way out, those who do not value life or respect, and those with absolutely NO accountability, you become a codependent and placate and pacify their behavior. The moral is this; treat people with respect, get a job, and support your family. The rest will fall into place.

I was born and raised in whitesboro, and there are decent God fearing people there. Its sad for me, a PROUD native of Whitesboro to see this kind of story. Its a shame for any human to have such violence commited upon them. You are probably one of the people who show up at the reunion evry year pretending to be a part of the community. You people are getting off the issue. Someone was stabbed and you are worried about what color person did it. Trust me from my expierence there are a lot more white people that commit crimes more than minorities,its just not publicized. And I feel I have first hand knowlegde of who is doing what in our county .
