NORTH CAPE MAY — Lower Township police received a report on May 6 about noon that a credit card company alerted the caller that his card had over $8,000 in charges that he had not made.

Police reported that Pierre Gross of this community was notified by his credit card company that among the charges made was one on April 14 by the Lower Township Tax Collector for property tax payment.

There was also a veterinary charge of $1,086.84 and charges made at local stores.

When police investigated, they learned that Louise Rizzuto, 45, of Robin Road, Villas, had used the credit card without Gross' authorization.

She was charged and released in her own recognizance.

In a release, police stated, "It was believed that a new credit card had mistakenly been sent to Gross' former address on Robin Road, which was subsequently occupied by Rizzuto. "

She had activated the card and began the alleged charing spree.

Detective Chris Lambert and Patrolman Charles Ryan conducted the investigation. Additional charges are pending the completion of their investigation.
