The event benefits the Beachcombing Program, which every summer takes approximately 3,000 children and adults on educational fun-filled tours of the beach. The Beachcomber Guides are a dedicated group of volunteers who freely give of their time to point out to visitors and local residents the natural wonders found at the Jersey Shore and the importance of protecting the delicate balance of the environment and the enjoyment of the seashore, explained Moore.
This summer will be the 20th year for the Beachcombing Program, which is sponsored by the Sea Isle City Environmental Commission. Moore estimates that 40,000 children and adults have participated in the program. Tickets are available from Beachcomber Guides or by calling 263-9643.
