The week-long program, running from June 23-27, will result in participants learning more about plot, character, dialogue, and setting—all from Cape May’s favorite Hollywood screenwriter. Last year, nearly two-dozen students participated in the program, which led to the creation of films that were screened at the Cape May Film Festival last November.
“We are so excited to initiate a new program at this year’s camp,” says Annie Mullock, Events Director for the Film Academy. “And you can’t get a more accomplished professional than JC Stinson to run it—he loves to teach,” she adds. JC Stinson has been an active part of the film camps and student programming for the Festival since the beginning in 2001. He is an actor and screenwriter, most famous for writing the famous Clint Eastwood line, “Go Ahead. Make my day.”
“The beauty of this program is that it appeals to a broader audience,” says Stinson. “Where the film camp appeals to the students who want to get involved in technical productions, this program within the camp appeals to those students interested in creative writing.” He adds that the camp program will work toward a scenario that can be acted out and filmed by the end of the week. “This will be a fulfilling experience for the students,” he says. “They’ll see the fruits of their labors.”
