COLD SPRING — A Vineland man made a match in the State Police Automated Fingerprint System, and, on April 11 was charged with 24 car burglaries that took place on Dec. 5, 2007 in Tranquility.
According to Lower Township Police, the incidents involved burglary of unlocked vehicles in that community near the end of Garden State Parkway near Cape May Canal.
Charged was Kevin Rosa, 19, of the 2100 block Mays Landing Road, Vineland. He was served with the charges and released on a summons pending a court appearance.
According to police, the alleged crimes involved Rosa looking for items that were easy to remove from the vehicles, including cash, electronics and other miscellaneous items.
Rosa discarded some items that were later found along Route 47 in Dennis Township. Those items included less valued property, such as motor vehicle credentials.
During the time of the incidents, Rosa allegedly left physical evidence at the scene, which was retrieved by Detective Art Mason and Detectives Edward Dougherty during crime scene process. That evidence was sent to the State Police Automated Fingerprint System for analysis and comparison.
On April 1, detectives were advised of a fingerprint-hit confirmation from State Police on a possible suspect.
On checking with victims and discovering no reason for the suspect’s fingerprints to be inside the vehicle, they began an attempt to find him.
Vineland peers aided the local detectives in their search for Rosa.
