Special Olympics returns to Wildwood for State Basketball Tournament

Forty-three Special Olympics New Jersey basketball teams, over 400 athletes, will compete in and around Wildwood on March 29 and 30 during the Spring Sports Festival. Wildwoods Convention Center will house two courts and surrounding venues including Crest Pier, Wildwood High School and North Wildwood Community Center will each have one court.

Competition will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Teams qualified for the state competition by placing first, second or third in their sectional (regional) events.

The Sea Isle City Islanders will serve as the “host” team. They will be playing in Division V and the following is their schedule for the weekend:

Saturday
11:25 a.m. at Wildwoods Convention Center Court 2
3:55 p.m. at Wildwoods Convention Center Court 1

Sunday
11:25 a.m. at Wildwood High School
1:45 p.m. at North Wildwood Community Center

The Spring Sports Festival is one of four statewide competitions staged by Special Olympics New Jersey during the year. All competition is free and open to the public.
