The workshop is open to anyone interested in learning “Joint-Freeing Series” also known as Pavanmuktasana.
The workshop is a special introduction to yoga, unveiling the joint-freeing series to those unfamiliar with the discipline. Workshop attendees will find joy in the experience of a simply performed practice that can enhance the immune system, help to reduce stress and, as series developer Mukunda Stiles states, experience freedom from pain in the joints.
The joint-freeing or energy-freeing series, a sequence of 22 rhythmic movements, is being offered expressly for people new to yoga as well as seasoned practitioners looking for a fresh perspective in their personal practice.
In addition to the introduction to the series attendees will receive a packet of information that summarizes the workshop. Stiles, author of Structural Yoga Therapy, Adapting to the Individual, states that the series can be performed by people of all body types, as practitioners can readily modify the moves for a traditional yoga practice on the floor, in a chair, standing or lying down.
The price of the class, which is directed by Wildwood Crest Recreation Leader Bobi Watson, is $10 per participant.
Participants must pre-register in person at the Crest Pier or by calling 523-0202. Class size is limited. Payment is due upon arrival to the workshop.
There will be a short break midway through the workshop. Participants should wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement.
