'Real Estate Boom Changed Many Things'

To The Editor: I moved to West Wildwood from Philadelphia to get away from the big city politics and union activity. I became disillusioned with politics there, and union involvement due to poor leadership from the elected representatives at both levels. In an effort to improve my union, I got involved as a representative in my local. I found it impossible to make changes due to collusion at the higher levels of the organizations. This resulted in the loss of jobs regardless of union seniority. I moved to West Wildwood because it was affordable and a small town. I desired the company of people who look out for each other. I expected the public officials to put their personal interests aside in the interest of all. Since my move to West Wildwood, however, I experienced the “real estate boom” that has changed many things here, and not necessarily for the better. We lost some of the “small town charm” that brought me here. We now need change with the political atmosphere here, in the state, and at the federal level as well, to meet the many challenges that come with change. Do we start this change in Trenton and Washington, D. C. expecting to get trickle down economics, or do we start locally and work up? I think we need to start with change locally where we can have better control over spending. To make this change, we need to get back to the basics and work together as neighbors as taught to me by my parents. We need to start with showing respect for each other regardless of color, ethnicity or beliefs. We need to work in the interest of all in our community. As a friend, a neighbor, or a worker and union representative, it was never about what I could “get out of it. We need good representation in our town, now. Vote wisely May 13 in West Wildwood. I support Dr. Herbert C. Frederick, Gerard P. McNamara and Dennis G. Hocker for commissioners. JOHN GRIECO West Wildwood

West Wildwood really is a nice neighborhood. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I am selling a home at a fair price. If you know of anyone interested, please check out my website at www.delmonteservices.com for details.
