The New Jersey Audubon Society’s Nature Center of Cape May is now accepting registrations for the spring 2008 session of Mommy and Me.
The program is for children between the ages of two and four years along with their favorite adult. Each week participants explore a different aspect of the natural world through a combination of stories, songs, self-guided play, crafts, and outdoor walks.

Classes take place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Friday beginning March 7 and continuing through May 19.
Mommy and Me is taught by New Jersey Audubon Society associate naturalist Heather Cherrington-Bruno.
“Exposing children to nature and nature related activates gives them an appreciation and respect at a young age for our earth and its living creatures,” according to Cherrington-Bruno.
“This age group gets so excited with nature and they love any type of outside exploration projects, especially if it's messy. That's the advantage of Mommy and Me for moms... we do all the messy projects you don't want to tackle at home. When you leave the nature center you have a happy child who learned something about nature, a cool fun project, and no mess at your house!”

Cherrington-Bruno is enthusiastic about the upcoming spring series.
“We have an exciting spring session planned full of color, starting with clover and rainbows to egg dyeing and spring flower planting. We'll sneak in some projects about bunnies (which we find all over Cape May), and show our appreciation to mom with a handmade project and some yummy treats. We'll end the spring with starting our own take-home vegetable garden, our ever popular trip to the harbor for collecting and investigation, and end the class with an Under the Sea Party.”

The Mommy and Me program fee is only $80 for the entire spring session, discounted to $60 for NJAS members. Space is limited, and preregistration is strongly suggested. Adult participation is required. Call the Nature Center of Cape May at 609-898-8848 for more information.

The Nature Center is located at 1600 Delaware Avenue, in Cape May. Visit the website at www.njaudubon.org to learn more about the Nature Center of Cape May’s children’s programs.
