WOODBINE -- Longtime borough Solicitor Michael Benson was replaced by Paul Baldini of Sea Isle City at the Feb. 7 borough council meeting.
Additionally, Benson was removed as borough prosecutor, and was replaced by Mary D’Arcy Bittner of Court House.
Mayor William Pikolycky, in a Feb. 4 letter to councilmembers, objected to the appointment of Baldini because he stated that Baldini had filed a $600,000 suit against the borough’s engineering firm as Lower Township solicitor, and believed it would be a conflict of interest for him in the new post.
At the same meeting, Council President David Rodriguez voiced concern over the location of new waste management hauler Blue Diamond into the borough, and a proposed ethanol plant in the borough both without public notification.
Rodriguez cited possible odor problems and potential decrease in property values for his concerns.
