A photo from a recent wedding shows a trolley’s photogenic side.
“Basically, any time someone needs to transport people, we do it,” she said.
In fact, the company’s trolleys are used by the Five Mile Beach Electric Railway Company to transport commuters and school children within the county’s beach towns. In addition, trolleys transport summer visitors on tours of the area’s many tourist sites.
“They use them for proms, reunions, anniversaries and Bar and Bat Mitzvahs,” she said.
And they are used for lots of other celebrations of all sizes. Flitcroft added that it isn’t uncommon for a group of guys to rent the trolley as transportation to a big game, or for groups to add a unique touch to their bachelor or bachelorette parties by taking them on the road in a trolley.
“They are like a little mini-party before they go to the big event,” she said.
They also offer a safe alternative to drinking and driving. In fact, some savvy business owners use trolleys to keep employees safe and to avoid potential legal issues. Flitcroft said that this past Christmas, one local plumbing company hired a trolley to take their employees and spouses out to a holiday dinner.
“They picked them up at home and dropped them off so that no one had to worry about driving,” she said.
At conventions, trolleys are hired to transport visiting business people from their hotels to local restaurants and meetings.
“We can accommodate any size group,” Flitcroft said.
The company owns individual trolleys that hold from 10 to 50 people. Of course, that’s one reason trolleys are tremendously popular for weddings. Unlike limousines, they allow the whole wedding party to travel together, and unlike a bus, they offer a wide-open, social atmosphere and attractive features that enhance wedding photos.
In addition, trolleys come in different colors—red, white or blue, plus a red and white model, and they can be dressed up further to suit any occasion. In fact, Dunkin Donuts recently used Great American trolleys for a holiday event with Rachael Ray in New York City, and they sticker-wrapped the outside to display their logo.
“They looked like giant Dunkin Donuts boxes,” Flitcroft said.
The cost to rent a one varies greatly based on the model of the trolley, the time of year and day of the week it is needed. For more information or an estimate, call 800-4-Trolly. Flitcroft said that the trolleys can be heated or air-conditioned and they are suitable for all types of weather…and they might just suit your style.
